2/4: GEDDY LEE, JOHN PETRUCCI, & MORE IN THAT METAL SHOW DEBUT 2/21!
Extremely psyched to welcome Geddy Lee of Rush for the hour as our guest on the first new episode of That Metal Show in almost a year! I really wanted someone huge for our debut and once again the Rush camp stepped up. Back in season 1 we had Geddy and Alex on and it was a great solid they did me at the time. You see TMS was in it’s infancy and nobody knew what was going to happen with the show. Ged & Alex flew down from Toronto to come on when we were just a 30 minute show not many had yet seen. Now 5 years and about 125 episodes later Geddy is back with us! I am also pleased to welcome Dream Theater guitar virtuoso John Petrucci as our guest musician. We will of course talk with John a bit during the show. Look forward to having him on for his TMS debut and see what guitar fireworks he has in store! I can also tell you there are some special surprises being planned for this episode that will not be announced in advance. It promises to be an epic return! We shoot it in NYC in less than 2 weeks and you will see it at our new start time of 9PM ET on VH1 Classic with a replay at 11PM and replays all week as usual. The remaining guests for the 12 episode new season will be announced as we go. Since we are shooting weekly everything is subject to change. But we have some great guests for the other 11 shows lined up with a very diverse roster, maybe more so than ever. TMS is back! Thanks for all the support as always. Love Geddy & Rush, but I was really hoping the first guest was going to be EVH, or Tom Scholz from Boston, neither have been on TMS before and that would’ve been really awesome! I knew EVH was a long shot, but sometimes a long shot comes in, oh well, maybe next time.

Hey Doug, even though EVH is a long shot, it’s still just the beginning of season 14. There’s still time for Eddie T to get Eddie VH to come around and appear. Geddy’s going to be great. He’s a cool, funny guy and and will be a lot of fun on the show. And Petrucci is a MONSTER on guitar, so that will be very cool!
Sadly EVH’s wife/press rep has already passed on the new season. They watch the show, sent us gear, but he won’t do it. Very press shy it seems. Keep trying..
What about a Podcast? No TV cameras, no audience, perfect setting for a shy guy like EVH. It’s still unbelievable how shy offstage EVH is, because when he’s onstage, he’s anything but shy! But I think a Podcast would be perfect for EVH, a one on one interview with the Trunkster, no distractions or diversions, what do you think Eddie?
I have offered everything. we’ll see.. I did interview him once on the phone
Did you put out an invite for DLR? I would think he would be into it.. Florentine knows him pretty good, maybe have him reach out? Just a thought, either way looking forward to the new season!!!!
Dave would be a GREAT guest. He’s a such a character. Imagine him and Zakk on the same episode! It’d be an all out laugh-fest.
Is Uncle Al Jourgenson coming back to make up last season’s episode?

I thought you said the debut guest was someone who was never on TMS before?!! Since Geddy Lee was on Season One, I think that threw everyone off??!
