7/18: BACK FROM SC, PODCAST WEEK 2, BLITZ, TMS, MORE

Just back from a few days with the family in Myrtle Beach SC. Also did a signing at a great store at Broadway At The Beach called Retroactive. Had a huge turn out and the signing went for over 3 hours. So grateful to Amy and Amy from the store and my local radio affiliate Rock 107 for the support. Was really a good one and my thanks to all who came out. Many asked if I went to the Kiss coffee house. They had requested me there many times over the years and would have at least stopped in, however the place is no longer there and out of business. But met so many great rock fans and had a great time. Was cool to check out Myrtle Beach as well for the first time. TONS of families with kids which I contributed to. If you are in that boat it’s great. If you want a vacation without a million kids I would not ever go during the Summer when schools are out. Next event for me is hosting a concert at Thunder Valley in Lincoln CA with Don & Jim that features Anthrax, Living Colour, Corey Taylor and Burned Halo one week from tonight. This is NOT a TMS taping however should be a fun show. We will be there Friday and Saturday and I will have both of my books for sale there as well. Hope to see you if coming, more soon.

My new podcast is up now with Blitz from Overkill. Hope you are all enjoying episode 2 of The Eddie Trunk Podcast. It is FREE and available worldwide via Itunes and www.podcastone.com THANK YOU for making my debut a top 10 podcast overall and #1 music on Itunes last week! So many great interviews and other things I will do in the podcast world as we go forward. This is all new to me so appreciate all the feedback and support. FYI music and songs can not be played on podcasts for publishing reasons. It is an all talk format.

ALL NEW “Eddie Trunk Rocks” FM/syndicated show this weekend on usual affiliates on days and times listed. Remember back on AAF/Boston now Friday nights 11P-2A. This weekends show features a visit from Blitz from Overkill and new music from the band as well.

I do not know when TMS will tape next. I only know we will for sure at some point. Probably not for a while unfortunately. These decisions are NOT up to me and I get as frustrated as you guys with the things you’d like to see happen with the show. Once I know from the network when we will shoot next I will post. Enjoy the many replays for now. Thanks.

Benefit show tomorrow in Garwood NJ at Crossroads with Blitz from Overkill, Mark & Dave of TT Quick and more. I’m going to try and swing by also.

Finally happy birthday to my Mom Rose today!

It was great to meet you, Eddie! Thanks for talking for a minute with me. I have no doubt we could talk for hours about our mutual love of hard rock and heavy metal.

Hi Eddie! Will Monday night’s XM show be live? I’m deciding whether to return home from my trip in the afternoon or the evening. Be cool!

  • Martin on

    Hey Eddie !

Hope you come back to SC sometime soon!!
Would live to see you in the Charleston area!

Btw… Why can’t you (Jim and Don) do something on a different network where you have control?
Is it a “non compete” thing? Seems like you have enough experience and although TMS needs more meat to it. Maybe if you pitched something to a different network, similar but more spotlights on newer bands or different types of hard rock and metal, I really think you could reach a ton of new people! Not that there is anything wrong with TMS, its really great that the show has lasted this long and still has a massive following, I just see that VH1 control issues and refuses to expand.. Maybe I’m wrong but it seems like everything I’ve read that you guys have little to no control over what goes on. To me that’s kind of a slap in the face knowing that you have the contacts and the background to make TMS an even bigger hit than it is.

      Eddie,
I agree with Martin. It’s time to spread your wings! You should also ditch Don Jamieson and keep Jim as your CoHost. Two is company, three is a crowd. Martin has some good ideas. Have you ever considered going to a different network, or is there contract issues that would prevent such a thing? I am sure VH1 owns the naming rights to TMS. You could always start a new show and name it something else. Although, That Metal Show is a pretty cool name.

I for one am going to miss you on Friday nights, at lease Live on Friday Nights. I still don’t understand why you did that even though you tweeted me explaining it to me. It makes no sense to me what you said. I really don’t think that you are telling the truth and perhaps actually telling the truth might do more harm then good? I don’t know. It’s you show, its your decision, but you always bragged about how what you do Is a rare, that almost all Dj’s are computer based now and that you are one of few that are still doing a live show. Now you are doing the opposite of what you always preached and joined the computer DJ era saying it’s unfair for 24 of 25 stations that were getting the show a week later, and now you are syndicated you had no choice? So what if it was unfair to them, they aren’t in NEW YORK, Q104.3 is in New York, so the show should always remain LIVE in that listening area. I’m just heart broken over the whole situation. Friday night rocks was what I looked forward to all week after Trunk Nation on Monday nights. Should we be expecting that show to go to a pre recorded show as well?

All I am saying to you is this, the interaction you have between you and your audience is what makes what you do SPECIAL, Its the reason we listeners tune in. If we want to listen to a generic radio show that plays music and has a so called DJ talking then we can listen to Nikki Sixx for crying out loud. That’s not what I want, so I tune into your program, but now it seems it is no different then what Nikki Sixx is doing, no difference at all Eddie.

Bryan, you assume you know many things here and are consumed with something I don’t quite understand. Please listen or don’t listen to what you want and please don’t tell me what it takes to SURVIVE in media. I have done it for 31 years! Like anything CHANGE happens from time to time. You can’t seem to grasp that my FM show was only live on ONE out of 3o stations! I have ALWAYS said that on air! Radio syndication is partially about how many stations you are on, but more importantly where they are. I am on in Boston, Milwaukee, etc. I’d like to be on in Dallas where you are. Being on there helps me WAY more than having you listen on the app which is what you do. The show needs to be available the same week to ALL stations that run it. Get it? No station wants a show 8 days later after it aired in NYC that people like you already heard on a stream. Not sure why you can’t handle this truthful explanation of a change that has impacted one out of 30 outlets. Ever wonder why weekly syndicated shows are ALL pre produced? From time to time I might do it live, but if the show is going to grow and survive this very minor change had to take place. You are the only person dwelling on it it seems. Media is changing every day. I fight to still do a live show on satellite which hardly anyone does for music! So please either listen or don’t, but unless you are an owner of a radio or TV outlet stop assuming you know how things work. It’s not a perfect world, sorry I can’t deliver exactly what you want how you want it.
As for TV if you find a network that wants to do a rock talk show please send them my way!

Thanks Eddie for the explanation, and I am sorry that I got all worked up over it. I apologize to you for overreacting. I do appreciate your shows and all that you do to entertain us. I guess I just didn’t understand how it works on your end. So, please accept my sincere apology and I promise, this will be the last you here me Rant about it.

Last nights show was pretty dam good by the way. I also heard you explain to everyone about how you too wish you could live your dream. Let’s hope someday one of the big networks gives you a call and that dream does come true.

      Bryan

      Eddie,

My twitter buddy, you know him as well, @pizzaman77 Jon P, and I are going to start a campaign here in Dallas to get you on the airwave here. We are launching it as I type. He has already tweeted them and they said they will consider it, but as you know me by now, that is not good enough for me or Jon. We will start hammering them until they finally give in and add you to 97.1 KEGL the Eagle.

    • Eddie on

You get me on the Eagle I will come to Dallas and beers on me! Thanks!!

Howdy Ed. Is the Blitz podcast a replay of the Sirius interview? If so, will Night Ranger be as well?

    • Eddie on

The Blitz podcast was an interview that some of was used on various shows. Hard to interview someone 3 times for the same thing. Most of the podcast interviews, including Night Ranger, are unique to the podcast or will at least debut there. It is different week in and week out based on artists schedule.
