3/15: TMS RECAP & NEXT WEEKS SHOW, VA AND DE SHOWS THIS COMING WEEKEND, MORE

Hope everyone had a great weekend and thanks for all the awesome response to last nights new TMS. As usual the Top 5 gets a ton of reaction, which of course is a good reason to do it! So many people scream “WHAT ABOUT……”. That of course is the whole reason to do it! The whole point is you can ONLY list 5, and of course we will always forget some and leave some great ones off. The fact I left off “Love To Love” by UFO, which is pretty much my favorite song ever is nuts for me! But I always think of the live version vs the studio version that ends Lights Out. It’s all good fun and debate for sure. This weeks show was a bit of an experiment having three first time guests, all rock fans, and all from different styles of music. And none of them knew each other. So we decided let’s bring them all out together and just have fun. And it worked great! As usual some stuff was cut out due to time (which kills me but that’s TV!) but we had a great hang for sure and most people really loved it. Thanks to Marky Ramone, DMC and Gary Holt. Hope to have them all back again soon.  Also always nice to check in with David Coverdale and have Joel Hoekstra play as well. It was a jam packed show for sure! It repeats all weekend and online at www.thatmetalshow.vh1.com with extras.

Next show we shoot is this Tuesday that you will see this Saturday. Guests include John Bush and Joey Vera of Armored Saint (debut appearance), Jamey Jasta and on guitar Michael Angelo Batio. Plus via Skype guitar great Jason Becker. Jason’s story is remarkable and I am excited to have him on for a few minutes.

Thanks to all who came out to my live show Friday night in Battle Creek MI at The Music Factory. Thanks to Jeff Harris, his wife Buffy and his staff for being so cool to work with. Hope to be back soon. Next live shows this weekend with Don & Jim. We will be in Falls Church VA this Friday and Willmington DE this Saturday. Tickets and VIP meet & greet tickets available for both shows. Details on this sites home page. Come hang with us! I will have books and merch available as well at both shows.

I will be live on SiriusXM channel 39 TRUNKNation tomorrow 6-10P ET with music & talk that rocks. Guests TBA

I am so looking forward to the show with Armored Saint!! One of the best bands that, unfortunately, didn’t have the great success I thought they truly deserved. First time I saw these guys, they opened for Metallica on the Ride the Lightning tour, and I thought they blew Metallica away. Eddie, I hope you and the boys dig deep into their history (John’s possible gig with Metallica, Dave Prichard, etc….) I always wonder if they felt their first album, March of the Saint, had too polished of a sound, which maybe took away a bit from their true metal vibe. YES, YOU’RE MADE OF ARMOR, AND SAINTS WILL CONQUER!!!

Eddie, loved the latest TMS, really great stuff. Glad to see Jim’s “Hey Eddie I don’t know how this got in here” bit is back lol…and this one was a doozy…! I am completely in agreement with you about “In a simple rhyme”. In fact I may get criticized by some on here, but Women And Children First is my second fave VH record, right beneath the first album but not by a stretch. A lot of great songs are on WACF. Romeo Delight, Fools, Loss Of Control has some of the most amazing drumming Alex has ever recorded. Back to the latest TMS, Seeing Marky was just fantastic. And I really liked the diversity of guests. I feel that especially in the metal fan world, there is way too much polarization. Metal fans enjoy being the outcasts, but a lot of them bag on each other for tastes in music. In high school, I “wasn’t allowed” to like Slayer because I owned records by Hanoi Rocks and Wrathchild UK. It’s silly. Thank you for another great show, to you and all on TMS!

Black Diamond by Kiss would have been an epic album closer if the ending didn’t drone on and pitch shift for 12 days lol…other mentionables not mentioned on the show or on the fans’ top 5, imo:
    The Mooney Suzuki: “Naked Lady”
    Kiss: “Do you love me”
Queen: “March of the Black Queen/Funny How Love Is”
    Iron Maiden: “Drifter”

Mr. Rock and Roll, the way that first Kiss record ends is one of the coolest moves any band has ever made..the uncanny, the eerie…it signals you to pick up the cover again and stare at it. Kiss used to be so weird..lol.

Eddie, I think this is the story that your caller was referring to.

From Guitar Player magazine – February 5, 2015

INXS Guitarist Tim Farriss Loses Finger in Accident
It is possible INXS guitarist Tim Farriss may never be able to properly play guitar again.

While boating in Australia last month, his ring finger got caught while maneuvering the winch and his finger was severed.

He has undergone surgery twice to try to reattach the finger but the accident left him with permanent hand damage. He is undergoing physiotherapy to try to regain movement in his finger.

After the suicide of frontman Michael Hutchence in 1997, the band continued on with a series of guest singers. Though they retired in 2012, their 2014 release called the Very Best, a compliation of the band’s greatest hits, was a top-selling album in Australia.

      Likely yes, thanks

    Howdy, Eddie!
It’s Great to hear that you’re going to have Jason on Skype. That’s incredible! I’ve always admired him as a person and the bravery he has in dealing with his illness. After I saw the documentary about him, that admiration only got stronger.
Last week’s TMS was a trip, to say the least. I liked how all three of those guys walked out together. I’m sure there’s still people bitching about DMC being on the show but so what, who cares. Let ’em bitch. You tried something new and he was actually pretty cool on the show. Talk about diversity! You had a rapper, a punk rocker and a thrash metal guitarist all talking on the set and a hard rock guitarist playing into the breaks! It was interesting and I am proud of myself because I went into watching the show with an open mind and I really enjoyed it.
