Just back from the TMS studio in NYC. Another killer show in the can and set to roll out this Saturday night 11/10C on VH1C. Thanks to guests Myles Kennedy, Mark Tremonti, Rudolph Schenker & Klaus Meine of Scorpions (via Skype), Steve Brown on guitar, and Matt Nathanson. Matt is obviously not a metal musician but a HUGE fan of the genre and the show as he more than proves in this episode (and when he wore a TMS shirt on Leno!). Great to meet him and have him on from a different perspective. Really lot’s of fun. Look forward to you guys seeing it this weekend. Photos from the shoot on my Twitter feed and FB.

I just love how TMS has “eras” now lol … The LA era, the glass table season, NYC Return Era. It’s kinda like when bands change styles for a couple albums, it changes Era.
Interesting idea to have Matt Nathanson on. I am a fan, and have met him as well. Cool guy. Looking forward to seeing this week’s show. Have loved the last couple weeks with Uncle Ted and, of course, the almighty Living Colour. This season is shaping up to be a good one! take care, hope to be in NYC for my Bday in May, so I hope to see ya then. Keep up the great work!
Was not my idea but he was great as you will see
Indeed I shall…
Sounds like a winner to me. I always love those “fans” who are quick with the ultra-nasty comments about everything from guests on the show, to how well an artist still plays his music. I would ask what is it that they do for a living. Doubt it would be anything relevant to their comments. Have a wonderful day, Eddie.
Hi Eddie! I really enjoyed last week’s episode of TMS. Keep up the great work! And a few weeks ago right here in the comments section we discussed CD sales and what type of impact your shows have on them. So I did a little independent research and found some interesting numbers. I took some of your pet project bands that you promoted week after week in both “radio and television” and compared their first week CD sales numbers to the first week sales numbers to some underground extreme Death Metal bands. I choose the Death Metal bands that had new CD’s that came out the same month as your pet project bands and I also choose Death Metal because you never play it and you said a few years ago that “if you don’t know what Death Metal will do to the ratings then I can’t help you.” Lets start with The Winery Dogs. They were promoted heavily for week after week on the Trunk shows in both “radio and television” in the weeks leading up to their release and the CD sold 10,200 copies in it’s first week. Compare that to the Death Metal band from Sweden Amon Amarth’s latest CD that came out 2 weeks before that and sold 17,000 in it’s first week with absolutely no play on any of the Eddie Trunk shows. Red Dragon Cartel’s CD sold 5,000 copies in it’s first week, and again after being promoted heavily in both “radio and television” for weeks leading up to it’s release. Compare that to the Death Metal band from Poland Behemoth’s new CD that came out around the same week and they doubled their sales at 10,000 in it’s first week, and once again with no play on the Trunk shows. Same thing with Adrenaline Mob. Their CD sold 6,600 in it’s first week back in 2012 and the Death Metal band Cannibal Corpse last “Torture” was released around the same week and it sold 9,594 in it’s first week. Anyway, I just wanted to share that with you. Have a great day and keep doing your thing!
Not sure when I ever made that statement about ratings and death metal? I do what I do for the last 30 years and it works for me and my audience. I can’t pretend to like music I don’t. Never did, never will. Can not be all things to all people. If you think VH1 CLASSIC wants death metal on a mainstream classic rock TV channel then you are misinformed. However THEY own the show, and if THEY booked those guests I would talk to them in a minute.
No need to put an apostrophe to show the possessive form of “it”. Simply use “its”. “It’s”, with the apostrophe, is the contraction for “it is”. Thank you.
Hi Eddie, thanks for the reply. You said the comment about Death Metal and ratings in a Trunk report a few years ago when you were getting requests to play some of it. Plus my comments about Death Metal had nothing to do with VH1 Classic playing it or not. But even if they ever did, there is so few people watching VH1Classic that they don’t even register ratings and it wouldn’t make a difference in CD sales or concert tickets. I’m sure you would agree with that, as my other comment clearly backed that up with the actual sales numbers. And I wrote about the sales of the Death Metal bands because in the comments section in another Trunk Report a few weeks ago we were talking about if any bands see any type of boost in CD sales and concert tickets after appearing on your shows. My point was that you were constantly pushing The Winery Dogs, Red Dragon Cartel, and Adrenaline Mob on the “Nationally Syndicated Eddie Trunk Rocks” and on “Trunk Nation” and their actual CD sales are a lot lower than most of the Underground Extreme Death Metal bands that are not played on your nationally syndicated show or your satellite radio show or your VH1 Classic show. But anyway, whether people are listening or not, keep doing what you’re doing because you’re doing a great job!!!
Thanks Kev. If Death Metal is selling as well as you suggest I’m sure someone out there will start playing it more. Here’s the sad part, ALL sales figures are pathetic these days…
Eddie,
Speaking of CD sales (I still buy a ton of albums), what can be done to increase sales? Is it just hopeless or can more be done and what? Do you think they should lower the number of units required for gold and platinum certification?
They do need to change the RIAA awards or nobody will see gold records again
