1/29: TMS, LZZY, BUMBLE, ELLEFSON, BELLO, WINGER IN MILWAUKEE, MORE

Episode 3 of the new season of TMS is being edited as we speak and will premiere this Saturday night 11P ET on VH1 Classic. We discuss the Motley farewell announcement and welcome guests David Ellefson, Frank Bello (who have a new band together), Lzzy Hale (who joined us via Skype) and Bumblefoot who plays during the show. Top 5 is the best Anthrax songs. Had a blast, hope you like it.

A friend who runs a label shared with me some interesting news about TMS this week. My Pick Of The Week for our debut this season was Scorpion Child. After that show aired the label saw a more than 100% increase in album sales right afterwards. As a matter of fact all of our picks show a major sales spike after we feature them on TMS as does the guests latest products they plug. It’s great to see this show have a positive impact on sorely lacking sales in rock/metal music and I appreciate all you guys watching and responding. These bands can use the help for sure. Was just really cool to see the impact of TMS and how rock music CAN sell if it is presented to an audience that cares about it. And that’s the huge difference, YOU the audience! He also told me when bands do Letterman or Leno the sales spike is not nearly as dramatic. Now clearly those are way way bigger shows and I am not for a minute trying to compare TMS to them. But not everyone who watches them cares about rock. If you watch TMS you do, and that explains the great reactions in sales. So thanks, it all helps the cause of rock and metal music!

My FM radio show featuring the interview with Joey DeMaio airs on all affiliates and online outlets this weekend listed on the site. My SiriusXM interviews are on the SiriusXM app.

Headed to Milwaukee tomorrow. Hope to see you for two nights of Winger at Northern Lights tomorrow and Friday night. Tickets still available for tomorrow show. I’ll be in the lobby selling and signing my books at 7 each night, show starts at 8.

I love Motley Crue’s reasons for retiring. How many bands go out with the original lineup? So many stay too long at the party. So IF they truly end as they say, it’s a classy way to cap an amazing career. We shall see.. Mick Mars will be on TMS this season!

Please be sure to check out the Eddie Trunk/TrunkNation merch in the online store on this site. Appreciate all that have purchased and represent out there. Thanks!

    Eddie, big fan here.

Grew up with Motley. SATD was 10th b-day present from pops despite the pentagram on the cover.

Can’t wait for Mick. Which Sat? You never hear him speak more than two sentences during a band interview so I can’t wait to hear what he says on your show without having to compete with his three band mates. I hear he asked Corabi to sing on his solo record. I would certainly like to know about that and what he personally thinks of the bands “retirement”. The last hiatus nearly killed him.

    Eddie,
Your comments on Scorpion Child are spot on! The whole reason I bought that CD actually goes back further than you mentioning it on TMS, to when there was a link to their video running on your site a few months back. I was blown away by it, tried to track it down through in the stores (even my favorite indep. shop in Wayne didn’t have it!); so ended up having to Amazon it. I hate waiting for shit in the mail, but I was on my last resort.
Anyway, we were watching TMS and when pick of the week seg. came up, I told my kids “Watch…Eddie’s gonna say ‘Scorpion Child'” They thought I’d seen the episode before, but I said “nope, I just know Eddie” See in our house YOU are a household-name. The moral of my ramble on is the Scorpion Child CD is redicu-killer, and thanks to you will be heard by many more of the masses.

Cant wait to see Mick Mars! Itll be interesting to hear what he has to say about the farewell tour. Issues regarding his health being a factor are apparently conflicted. Just my opinion, but it seems to me as if Tommy Lee might be the one who wants everything to end. Surprising, as he used to be the one who seemed to have the most fun.
On another note, and I know you get tired of guest requests Ed, but I think a great guest would be Cronos of Venom. Highly influential and they were indeed from the classic era the show prefers to promote. Without Venom, we wouldnt have had bands like Slayer or even Metallica. Just a thought.

I really enjoy everyone’s picks, and although I may not like some it’s always nice learning about new bands and music. Out here in southern California it’s kind of a radio wasteland for anything new. Occasionally KCAL 96.7 plays some new stuff, but everything else is pretty much the same old songs by the same old bands. Someday I’ll have to break down and get satellite radio to get your show. I’d listen on KCAL but it comes on way past this old rocker’s bedtime!
