10/15: THAT METAL SHOW UPDATE, JOEY KRAMER PODCAST

I know I typed this a few weeks ago but still getting asked almost daily (thanks for caring!) about new episodes of That Metal Show. VH1 Classic repeats the heck out of them but there have been no new shows since April. The network decided to put the show on hiatus until 2015 but there is now a firm plan for the shows return. We will once again be shooting from NYC and like last season be doing shows on a weekly basis. Meaning when a show premieres it will only be a few days old. No gang shooting like we did for a long time. The premiere date for the season debut is 2/14/15. Still way too early to talk about guests or audience tickets but as always I will post here when I have that info. All the things you guys ask for are the same things I want; HD, live performance, DVD, Itunes, etc, but I have no control over any of it. All 100% up to VH1 who makes all the calls. I wish we did the show on a more regular basis but again that is not my call. Everything comes down to the network and what they want to invest in with the channel. The good news is we will be back! Thanks for all the patience and support and more when I know.

All new podcast tomorrow! The Aerosmith theme continues! Last week was Joe Perry, this week drummer Joey Kramer. The interview was recorded backstage at the bands recent NJ show. Joey talks about his recent heart scare, his line of coffee, and of course the band. Subscribe and download free on Itunes or at www.podcastone.com

  1. This industry continues to disrespect you. That metal show delays , your live FM radio show not live anymore, etc. The one time they took your satellite radio show off the air. I mean it’s unbelievable

    1. FM show isn’t live anymore isn’t an industry thing. It’s Eddie never being around on weekends($$$ for him) combined with affilates not exactly wanting shows with Zakk Wylde rambling for 2 hours.

    2. It is due to the fact that because every radio station now streams everyone wants it the same weekend. Only way to keep major markets is to deliver same weekend not 7 days later on delay as it was. My schedule also plays into it but was not the reason it had to change. Streaming was the issue and other stations getting a show their audience could hear live on Q104 stream

    3. Zak Wylde smells. Anyone who would brag about not showering for weeks is a dirtbag. Eddie and his sidekicks laughing about this says a lot about them, too.

  2. What is up with rockers having their own coffee? The Kiss Coffeehouse (which is out of business right?), Ted Nugent, Zakk Wylde & I’m sure many others. To me coffee and metal do not correlate.

Just watched Fan Halen at The Whisky A Go Go! They were the best tribute band I’ve ever seen!

    1. When Steel Panther were Atomic Punks, they were the hands down best VH tribute band I’ve ever seen. Viper Room ,somewhere in time…

  3. Too bad Viacom isn’t willing to invest in you or the show beyond chump change. Have you even tried reaching out to AXTS? Obviously it would have to be a somewhat different format than the current TMS since Viacom owns the show, but continuing to accept an inferior product just reflects poorly on the confidence you have in yourself. Keep settling, or tell them to f off and move on. People are tired of this half assed low def product and the “I can’t do anything it’s all up to the network” whining. If you believe in yourself get off of the couch and market your product.

    1. The waiting for new TMS seasons sucks, but I’d rather them stay with vh1classic since it’s probably the only channel that will allow the show to have bands like Anvil, Doro & King Diamond etc. …A different channel would probably demand that the show only have more mainstream-friendly guests which most likely wouldn’t have anything to do with real Metal. It’s bad enough vh1c has included some of those Avenged/hatebreed type of bands…I don’t think too many TMS fans want to see bands like that, I know I don’t.

    2. How in the world can someone get on here and actually make this statement?
“…but continuing to accept an inferior product just reflects poorly on the confidence you have in yourself.”

What an absurd statement to make re: Eddie’s confidence in himself. You must be aware of how bad the music business is hurting in many areas. Record sales – down, for reasons that we all know. Music videos being played on TV? Rarely happens anymore.

Then comes music SHOWS on TV like TMS. TV channels that started as music-based now count on reality TV to pay their bills. So you’re actually criticizing a guy who has one of the last, authentic music-related TV shows standing?

Do you have any idea how hard of a sell it is today to convince a TV network to run a music show about music? Sounds ridiculous, but the successful “music shows” you see on TV are all competition/reality based. I won’t name them. I hate them. And you know of them.

Who else would be interested in this product on TV? FUSE? They had their own metal show – dumped it. AXS TV (owned by Mark Cuban) may be the only viable TV outlet, but not many people know who it is. If I were Eddie, I’d consider a sponsored, online only TV edition. This is where TV is headed anyways.

Regardless, most people commenting on here about what Eddie should/shouldn’t do with his TV shows are clueless about the TV business. Be grateful it’s on still.

  4. Steel Panther is an obscene piece of trash. Why did such a respected, legendary band like Priest take these fools out on tour? They truly suck and should never go any further than the sunset strip.
