THE ROCK HALL ANNOUNCE POSSIBLE 2019 INDUCTEES: DEF LEPPARD. RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, RADIOHEAD, STEVIE NICKS AND OTHERS, BUT NO JUDAS PRIEST

It’s that time again, the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame have announced their lead nominees for class of 2019.

On the list: Radiohead, Def Leppard, Stevie Nicks, Rage Against the Machine, the Cure, Devo, Janet Jackson, Kraftwerk, LL Cool J, Roxy Music, Todd Rundgren, John Prine, MC5, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan and the Zombies.

The top vote-getters will be announced in December and inducted March 29th, 2019 at a ceremony at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. HBO will broadcast the event later next year.

To be eligible for this year’s ballot, each nominee’s first single or album had to released in 1993 or earlier. Several of the nominees have appeared on previous ballots, but this is first appearance for Def Leppard, Devo, Prine, Roxy Music, Nicks and Rundgren. Radiohead and Rage Against the Machine both made their debut appearance last year in their first period of eligibility. This is the fifth appearance for Kraftwerk and LL Cool J, the fourth for the Zombies, the third for Janet Jackson and Rufus featuring Chaka Khan and the second for the Cure.

A voting pool of more than 1,000 artists, historians, journalists and members of the music industry will select the new class, and once again fans will have a chance to be a part of the process. They can vote on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s website or visit the museum in Cleveland and make a selection at an interactive kiosk.

As in recent years, the Hall of Fame has announced the individual members of each band that will be inducted. The current lineup of Def Leppard is listed along with the late Steve Clark and original guitarist Pete Willis.

I love everybody’s passions being expressed on this topic, particularly yours, Dana. That’s one of the great things I enjoy about this site…the passion us fans get to share with each other. Varying opinions abound on this topic, but we all agree the RRHOF is a joke.

IMO, Priest is a huge snub not being nominated. Is it possible that the KK vs Priest drama negatively impacted their nomination?????

What about Charles telling me Dio isn’t in either? What the heck??

Also, if Lars didn’t make a stink during Metallica’s induction, who knows if Deep Purple would still be waiting to get in?

Wow who think Stevie Nicks would cause so much conversation on a hard rock/metal site
I did like nicks and Fleetwood Mac back in day but I prefer
Christine McVie Vocals better than Nicks

    • Dana on

      Agree, Charles,

I said the same thing below-LOL!! I also agree with you that McVie has the far better voice.

After all my comments on Nicks, and I love Stevie, I actually like McVie’s voice even more than Nick’s! Hey, holy sh-t, I think we actually all agree on someone, whoa! Somebody “Hold Me!” 😉

    • Dana on

Still don’t like the band, but yes, McVie has a very nice and sweet voice. You can get up off the floor now-LOL!

Some my friends at work talking about bands some are from the U.K. we agree that a lot of great hard rock and metal bands from the U.K. urgo Ms McVie from the land across the pond

No question that the UK produced some GREAT heavy metal, and they tend to be my favorites (Priest, Sykes, Def Leppard), but we produced some AMAZING bands, and pioneering guitarists, such as Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen (I know he’s Dutch born, but bred here) George Lynch, Warren DiMartini, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Nuno Bettencourt, Paul Gilbert, etc. Yay for us-LOL! 🙂

I guess only myself, and my circle like Stevie Nicks’ voice and her music, radio plays Stevie Nicks because of the way she looks. She had sold millions of albums worldwide because of the way she looks. Dozens and dozens of awards and accolades because of the way she looks. I could go on and on, but apparently I’m the only man that likes Stevie Nicks as an artist, and not just a sex symbol.
BTW, the only reason Madonna got in the HOF when she did was because she probably slept with everyone on the committee, including the women!! 😉

I can’t argue with your Madonna comment, but I still think she was a marketing genius.

OMG, guess who is on American Horror Story: Apocalypse right now? Stevie Nicks playing a witch-LOL!! I forgot she also played one on the American Horror Story: Coven season as well, I can’t escape-LOL!!! Talk about typecasting.

And considering some of you seem to think she is more down to earth than Madonna, and not into her appearance, please explain all the plastic surgery she has done to her face? Good lord, she is just as vain as the rest.

I heard a while ago she had some Botox, that’s about it. Absolutely means nothing, this conversation is all about music, does she project an image? Maybe you can even call it a gimmick? Ok, sure, and even if she did have (Nicks) some other cosmetic surgery of some kind, who cares? I don’t look at a model to hear them sing, and I don’t listen to a musician to see how they look. So silly.

I am dropping it after this, but trust me, that is WAY MORE than botox.

Listen, I get it, they are in public eye, performing constantly, under public scrutiny in a very superficial world, which has only gotten worse with social media. What saddens me, is sometimes these celebrities go to far with surgical procedures. They do a nip and tuck, here and there, and look good. But many become addicted, and go to far, and start do themselves a disservice, like Cher. Speaking of, is Cher in?

If wanna see funny and plastic surgery I just saw Rick Springfield on episode of The Goldberg’s as owner of kareoke bar wearing what looks like a tie wrapped around his head
