Sounds like King’s X (that’s a compliment).
you know john was right sounds very much like kings x , their first track sounded at least to my ear a lot like something off badlands first album , also a compliment – I think George and Jeff, and Mick are trying to not sound like Dokken – If they actually stay together and rehearse and actually write together in the same room …. ( which would be a total surprise ) their 2nd album will most likely define their real sound.
I think it’s rare for bands that come together like this to actually write together and record all in the same room / studio , George might record his guitar at home to a click , then email the file to Jeff, who then lays down his bass part , then emails to- etc etc…. digital recording makes it all so easy –
F–K digital recording, everybody needs to pay attention to Paul Gilbert! Just jam, and record!!
Doug , Paul punched in at least 10 times probably more it did sound like a live band recording but I’m not sure how much was live … also I can’t really tell with mp3s if Paul recorded on tape but if I had to bet on it it’s was a full digital recording – I’m sure there are some bands that record live guitar drums and bass you have to be very rehearsed for that to sound really tight but that’s how it was mostly done in the 70’s
Robert, you know what’s funny? With technology being what it is today, it takes (in most cases) years to make a new album, but in the 70’s (the olden days) most bands/artists could make a new album in a matter of weeks! And in my opinion, the albums in the 70’s sounded so much better, and REAL than most of the albums today! Instead of just letting it happen, most bands today try to hard to make it happen and force it, and again in my opinion, that just kills the whole vibe. Sammy nailed it when he said – “Future In The Past!”
I dig this album!
Doug I agree with you 100 % I don’t know if your a fan of the black keys ? But they have built a great career on doing it old school -vintage instruments , vintage gear , and they record almost everything live – and they record on analog tape – to me that is the way to do it , the foo fighters have done that as well – but it is very expensive- digital recording is very inexpensive –
Hi Robert, honestly, I have heard of the Black Keys, but I’ve never listened to 1 song from them. It’s nice to hear though that a newer band is so old school, that is really cool. Maybe one of these days if I get a chance and have some extra time I’ll check out some of their music. I usually don’t listen to newer bands that much, but being that they’re old school, maybe they’ll surprise me.
