Sammy Hagar has revealed details of his first solo acoustic record.

The Red Rocker will release Lite Roast on October 13th through Mailboat Records. He is joined on the record by Vic Johnson, guitarist with Hagar’s backing band Waboritas.

Former Van Halen and Montrose singer Hagar says, “I realize that when I played my songs acoustically, it made me sing different. It brought a new light to the lyrics that I’d written throughout my career.

It’s very live, very personal, with Vic accompanying me on guitar and singing background vocals. No overdubs. I think that my hardcore fans are really going to love it.”

Hagar decided to make the acoustic album – which features versions of tracks from throughout his career – after taking part in this year’s Acoustic-4-A-Cure concert in San Francisco.

Lite Roast tracklist:

1. Red Voodoo
2. One Sip
3. Finish What Ya Started
4. Eagles Fly
5. The Love
6. Father Son
7. Dreams
8. Deeper Kinda Love
9. Who Has The Right
10. Sailin’
11. Halfway To Memphis

On 10/13, Hagar will be 67, and still going strong! Mas tequila Sammy! Acoustically brewed! Especially looking forward to “Eagles Fly”, one of my favorites. Cheers! 🙂

Like other artists that can’t come up with anything worth anything anymore: acoustic versions of the past, covers of other people or the lamented greatest hits live with 3 new studio stinkers.

Really Lee, Sammy put out a brand new CD last year and is probably the hardest working man in the business, also there are not too many with the vocal chops he has at his age, still hits every note. Haters will be haters

See ya in Vegas this month Sammy!!

Montrose, Solo, Van Halen, Waboritas, Chickenfoot, and now, after taking part in this year’s Acoustic-4-A-Cure concert, Sammy gets inspired to record his first ever solo acoustic album, and he still has to get some sh*t from a hateful negative poster, you’re right Mark, haters will be haters! At this point in Sammy’s career, he’s entitled to do whatever he wants, he’s earned it. Enjoy the show Mark, and remember, GET YOUR BUZZ ON! 😉

      Redhead forever! 🙂

Come on now Lee, a little bitter? For you to even post a comment on this topic must mean you are some kind of Sammy fan,…..do not understand the negative thoughts. As both Mark and Doug point out, Sammy is always busy and putting out new stuff for the fans, while still doing more shows than most bands/solo artists half his age. Whether this is new stuff, or a new and fresh take on older tunes, we welcome it. Cannot wait to hear it, and enjoy the magic that Vic and Sam can produce under a different light.

Sammy is such a cool guy.

Long time fan of Sammy’s. I’ve got to admit though I am not excited about this release at all. Sammy and Friends had 2 new original songs and was bad, Cosmic Universal Fashion was pretty bad. Sammy needs to sit down and come up with some good new original music instead of rehasing the old songs and doing cover songs.

Love Sammy…I think he really just plays and if people get it or buy it, great if not I don’t think he cares…he’s made more money on his alcohol ventures than his music and he’s in a position to just make music, go on mini tours and just chill…the hard rock Jimmy Buffett…I am interested in this because he’s putting it out without fan fair or hype or real promotion, so he just wants his music and performances out there. Good for him, and he still kicks ass live!!
