Sorry this is late, but saw kiss last summer and Paul’s voice sounded better on that tour, one of best kiss shows I have seen. Also, Eddie love your shows , tv and radio, but to say kiss needs co-headlining tours is not fair . Most bands need to co-headline. I know everyone likes to throw out ac/dc and van Halen, but how often do they tour? If those bands toured as much as kiss, they would probably need to co headline also.

Ga, that is part of the problem. KISS tours too much. Pretty soon they will be like Lynyrd Skynyrd, one original member, playing county fairs to an audience of balding mullets and peroxide blondes with missing teeth. Good luck with that.

      well played mr. taint

The more there is of something the less people will pay – this is called inflation. I am using an economical term here because that is what Kiss has become, a brand and a business venture only that must accept to be measured in terms like value for money. But to be honest, there is a lot of bands out there touring with sometimes one, sometimes no original member.

Thanks for the “economics” lesson. Not needed, but thanks. One note, “the more there is of something the less people pay” is not the definition of inflation.

I would suggest a career change. I think there may be an opening for a new Captain Obvious. You would be my nominee.

Hey Harry why so touchy? No lesson intended, you “obviously” missed my point completely. Are you one of those using this forum to give people advice or do you want to talk about Kiss?

Growing up with the original KISS – It’s just sad, sad, sad to see KISS in this frame of existence today. The last original members should just bow out and save what VERY LITTLE dignity is left. The original four created something that may never be achieved again and now it’s being tore down because of one thing, money. Hope people just getting on board with KISS, do their research and save their money before corporate KISS sucks their wallet dry. KISS today is a shadow of what was created in the early 70’s.

Even AC/DC which we all find a band of integrifty do not go on tour to just cover their expenses. But with Kiss it is different now, the balance has been shifting way too much, if not completely, to money making and money only. Charging 1000 dollars for the special experience and then offer an amateur performance and personal conduct like an egocentric teenager is not only shameful and unprofessional, it is embarrassing for both artist and fan in the audience.

heres my take on this conversation,im a die hard just like most of the kiss army, but i agree that for at least the last 8 years or so,pauls voice has just gotten really bad.and after all his talk about peter and ace not holding up thier end of the job,and not performing well, for what ever reason, thats why they were let go,or he did not want or could not work with them ,that the fans deserved more, and they just were not delivering the goods, well shouldent the same be applied to him???he sounds terrible, its almost painful to listen to him these days,so i guess gene should fire him right?and he should be replaced by oh i dont know say billy may(from kissnation)thats what paul is always saying these days, both peter and ace have been clean and sober for years,so now he says its there ability to play,so whats good for the goose is good for the gander right?.i loove the kiss show, its bar none one of the best shows out there, but what good is it if the lead singer can no longer sing, thats my only problem with this situation,i really have no problem with the guys being replaced as long as they have the licks to perform at a kiss level, once the show starts ,with the make up on,after a song or 2 for me it is 1977 again, and if the guys are performing up to that level, its all good,

Paul is hit or miss, but never great…average at best. I have tons of live recordings of him from the last 15 years, and he really began to lose it at the end of 2009 to early 2010. 2010 thru 2011 was brutal and since he is hit or miss. I heard he has been getting mini-surgeries for years on his throat and this last time it helped a lot. Just saw them less than a year who and he was 7/10 for the night of course with backing vocals from the others. But this is horrible and he needs to stop putting himself out there with some of the stuff he try’s to sing. He should stay away from 80’s Kiss and anything Zepplin…Plant doesn’t sing them anymore and he can still sing, so Paul needs to stop.

    • Eddie on

I hear he needs surgery but won’t get it. It’s strange to me that someone can be struggling this much for this long and it just gets glossed over. This is NOT about my issues with Paul. He was one of my favorite singers for a long time. But he himself preaches when you can’t cut it time to stop, and this is painful and sad to hear. When you struggle over acoustic like this, wow.

The reason I initially posted was because I was astonished that Gene actually admonished him visually and then verbally DURING the performance; that’s a sad indication of how bad the situation’s gotten.

Also, the average concert goes or listener, what does he really listen to? Guitar solos? Drum fills? I would especially listen to the guitar playing because that is my hobby, but most people? They will focus on the song and the singer, that has always been that way. And it’s ok. Songs and voices are most important, even guitar players know that, though it is hard to acknoledge … So even the musically potent current lineup together with great lightshow and state-of-the-art sound system cannot compensate for 50% of the fun that is missing, which is a great lead singer. I do not get it, with so much money in the vaults, so much fame, so many many concerts and tours and precious moments to remember, why can he not stop? My guess is that he is just one of those who, deep in their heart, just fear the day they will no longer be in the spotlight, no longer be needed, we all fear that one day people will get along well without us, that is something everyone at the end of their career must face and get over with. Falling to pieces in public only makes it worse …

First time weighing in. Eddie, I’m a big fan of That Metal Show, hard rock & heavy metal. I agree with a lot of the comments above in that KISS does tour every year, Paul’s voice is shot, etc. KISS played here in 2010 at an amphitheater with The Academy Is….no name band. 2 hours plus and kicked ass. Of course Paul’s voice isn’t what it used to be….he’s 62! He’s not hanging it up because he loves KISS…period! Eddie, you yourself have commented how big name bands have to co-headline to draw audiences, so not sure the reason why you made the comment above? They love what they do and so what if they can’t sell out arenas. Look at Def Leppard, they’ve taken out so many bands with them. It’s the music that matters. Only Eddie knows for sure, but I can’t help but think he’s bitter over Paul making fun of his show. Heck, I’d be crushed if it was me. It’s all good though, love reading the comments. keep rockin Eddie, come to Buffalo someday
