KISS’ PAUL STANLEY DISCUSSES WHY HE DECLINED TO PERFORM WITH ACE FREHLEY AND PETER CRISS AT THE ROCK HALL INDUCTION

paulstanley400 In speaking with with KNPR News, KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley was asked why he declined to perform with fellow original KISS members Peter Criss and Ace Frehley at the band’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in April. His answer has been transcribed by blabbermouth.net and can be read below.

Stanley said, It’s a tough question to answer, but there’s so much involved in it. Firstly, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame wanted nothing to do with us; they begrudgingly let us in. And my sense was that we were going to be a dog-and-pony show. They wanted to have the original guys play in the band, and all of us in makeup, and, quite honestly, I think it would have done the band a disservice. That lineup has not been together for 14 years, and physically, perhaps, wouldn’t have looked that great, and musically, undoubtedly, probably, would have sounded a bit suspect. So, to have people watch it on television and identify that as KISS because there’s four guys in makeup would not send a great signal to the people who are not following the band in its current permutation, or what it is today.”

He continued, “Look, we just did 42 shows and played to 600,000 people in America, and I would hate for those people to turn on a TV show where we were an unwanted guest in the first place and see us strong-armed into doing something that really does a disservice to something that I worked at for 40 years. I never quit the band twice, once, and to dilute what I’ve worked on all these years just to make a committee happy that really was not all that thrilled that we were there in the first place, it sent the wrong message and it endangered something that I hold very dear to me.”

KISS begins their three week Las Vegas residency, Kiss Rocks Vegas, at The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino today (November 5th).

Paul Stanley has no dignity. He claims to be very proud of Kiss and what they have done over the last 40 years, but is going to wind up completely ruining his legacy by lying to himself due to his delusion. I’ve been a fan for 38 years, and Paul, if you’re reading this, and you still consider the fans family, hear me out. Brutha, it’s over, it’s been over. You look like a fool and sound even worse. I hate to see what is happening. You are shot, man. Done. Overdone. I guess more money is worth more than pride and dignity and leaving a good taste in the mouths of the millions who gave you your career. Watching the Vegas footage as well as recent tours reminds me of watching an old man trying to show everyone he’s “still got it”. Dude, you do not “still got it”, so Ralph Malph, just do what you know you have to. One last show with Ace and Peter and hang it up. PLease.

I am sure Paul will heed your concern for his legacy. And I am sure he’s proud of such devoted and loyal fans like you who tell him he’s “shot” and “done.” If he has the passion and desire to continue making music and performing, no one has the right to tell him to stop. I continue to support my favorite band of all time. Maybe you under achieved in life. Maybe you’re “shot,” maybe you’re “done,” Brutha.

Hey old man, he can’t sing anymore. He is shot. But you are old and Paul can fool old people like yourself. If he had any dignity for his bands legacy he would have called it quite many moons ago, but he isn’t fooling the younger generation like myself. He is just playing the old week minded fools like you

    • Don on

Dude! You are rockin’ that G.E.D. I love being a “week” minded old fool. It means I have perspective.

    • Joe in The Cuse on

Don, you base everything on your EMOTIONS because if you had PERSPECTIVE you would clearly state the obvious….so don’t sing that garbage. Paul sadly can’t sing, the band sounds horrible, they know that to sell 15,000 seats they need a co-headliner, the reviews from all over are pathetic…….but you have PERSPECTIVE???? No you don’t. Murph is right

The passion he has, as it comes across in all the interviews and whatever, is to make sure the world perceives him as the most important member in Kiss ever, the leader, the great frontman, the (insert more superlatives here ……). We the fans of the band will not stop criticizing his shortcomings as long as he keeps telling us he and the band are still top notch. And of course he does not care about what we say or else he would give us either more quality on stage or a decent way to end the band’s career everyone could have been proud of and satisfied with.

Lol do you feel better now?

Hi I am a 20 year old from Nevada. My parents are KISS fans from the 1970’s. We are going to see KISS do their Las Vegas act just to see Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. And that is the only reason we are going. Watching the video’s from the past 5 or even 10 years for that matter are really a tough because musically as a whole, they are bad. But it is Paul & Gene we are seeing so I guess that is the only plus.

we can all learn from murph…the next generation! enjoy the show, murph.

Stanley still has it. The Ace base will hide when the footage of his first show is thrown out. Reviews in Vegas were fantastic. Kiss 2014, better than ever, ask Gene & Paul.

    • Murph on

Lee your just another old fart that falls into the same category as Don, 2 old foolish men that Paul can easily manipulate, sorry dog but nobody is teaching you new tricks
