EDDIE TRUNK DISCUSSES WHO HE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ON “THAT METAL SHOW” AND MEETING ONES HEROES

eddie400 Adrian Peel of Digital Journal spoke with our namesake Mr. Trunk. Select quotes from the feature appear below.

Who would Eddie like to have on That Metal Show who’s not been on before?

“Artists I want and what the audience wants might not always be the same thing. I like to give the lesser known guys a shot, but the network always wants the main stars of major bands. We have a good balance. Guys we’ve never had on that are often requested are Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page, James Hetfield, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, Ozzy… Our door is wide open. For many it’s just a matter of schedule or they aren’t comfortable doing TV but love the show. For a few, they just have issues.”

People often say that they don’t want to meet their heroes as they believe they’ll be disappointed (especially if said hero has “issues”), yet Eddie Trunk has met a number of his. What’s his view on this idea of maintaining a certain “mystique” between artist and fan?

“I understand it and it’s not a bad idea… There are some people I have met over the decades that have had me sour on them because of their behavior. But anyone can have a bad day and fans have to remember that. You also have to remember these guys are constantly getting hammered by fans for stuff and sometimes it becomes over the top, especially if out eating or with family. I’ve seen many fans behave great when they approach celebs and others act way out of line and deserve to be blown off, so it does work both ways.”

Wow the headline said he discusses who he would like to see and he discussed not one person he would like to see. Seems like an article just to shout out to a few big names for the producers of the show or something . Eddie wouldn’t do that would he ?

First of all, I love the show, and it sucks that it’s not broadcast on TV here (the Netherlands) or I’d just watch it on TV, but since it’s not I have to scour the internet looking for downloads or online videos to find/watch episodes. Can full episodes be seen on VH1.com if you’re not in the US? because everytime I go to their website I get the ‘you can’t watch this cause you’re not in the US’ message!

I’d love to see members of the following bands: Alice in Chains, Jane’s Addiction, Killing Joke, The Police, Saigon Kick, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, System of a Down, X or X Japan – doesn’t matter really,

Especially: Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains. Dave Navarro/Perry Farrell from Jane’s Addiction. Jaz Coleman from Killing Joke (strange guy but I’m sure he’d be interesting to say the very least). Chris Cornell from Soundgarden. Which members from the other bands doesn’t matter as much to me.

I would like to see Lzzy Hale & Russell Allen on the show.

Would love to see Joan Jett on TMS. She is the last truly real rock and roll star, imo. And screw Gene and Paul. F those two. Even if they were on TMS, it’s be one stupid soundbite after another coming out from those holes under their noses. Other stars I’d love to see on TMS are:

    Whoever isn’t dead from Sweet.

    Jean Beaviour from The Plasmatics.

Babymetal (you know that would be awesome, admit it. Stir the pot a bit!).

    Nightwish.

    Andy McCoy from Hanoi Rocks.

Vinnie Vincent, just for the weirdo factor.
