GUITAR CENTER AND DIRECTV FEATURE ICONIC GUITARIST SLASH IN ORIGINAL TWO-PART DOCUMENTARY AND LIVE CONCERT EVENT

Guitar Center and DirectTV announced a two-part documentary and live concert event examining the life and music of Grammy Award-winning guitarist Slash. With a world tour on the horizon and his new album World On Fire debuting in the top ten and garnering worldwide critical acclaim, the iconic guitarist remains one of the leading influences in music.

In a 90-minute live concert event – Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators Live from the Sunset Strip –viewers get a front row seat to Slash’s recent show at one of Hollywood’s most iconic venues, The Roxy, as part of Guitar Center’s 50th Anniversary celebration. Filmed in stunning 4k and 5.1 surround sound, the special features songs from SLASH’s recently released album World on Fire as well as classic Guns’N’Roses and Velvet Revolver hits. The concert brings a rock legend back to the stages where his career began: The Sunset Strip.

The concert special leads into a 90-minute documentary directed by Martyn Atkins that takes viewers into the studio with the rock legend, combining new and archival footage with interviews from the artists and colleagues that influenced his incredible career. Tracing the rock icon’s incredible journey, SLASH Raised on the Sunset Strip covers his childhood in both England and California’s Laurel Canyon, his discovery of the guitar and arrival on the Sunset Strip, his meteoric rise with Guns’N’Roses, the evolution of Velvet Revolver, Slash’s solo career and his current band featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators.

Slash speaks in intricate detail about his drive and approach to the craft, successes, challenges, influences and collaborations with multiple artists. Interviews with rock legends including Dave Grohl, Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, Nikki Six, Duff McKagan, Steven Alder, Matt Sorum, Jerry Cantrell, Lemmy, Dave Mustaine, Marc Canter, Alan Niven, SLASH’s wife Perla Hudson and more reveal the stories of how it all came to be and, more importantly, where he’s heading.

JOE PERRY’S “ROCKS: MY LIFE IN AND OUT OF AEROSMITH” SITS IN THE TOP TEN OF THE NY TIMES BESTSELLER LIST FOR INITIAL TWO WEEKS

Since its October 7th release, Joe Perry’s Rocks: My Life In and Out of Aerosmith (Simon & Schuster) has spent its initial two weeks on the prestigious New York Times bestseller list. Rocks entered the charts at #8 and remained in the Top Ten (#10) in week two. In the book, Perry shares–with total candor and without apology–what life is like as the lead guitarist and co-head writer of Aerosmith.

Perry has been in high demand, completing a cross-country book tour with multiple nights in New York, his Boston hometown (three in-stores), Chicago, San Francisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles and a stop at The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland. ARMORED SAINT SINGER JOHN BUSH CONFIRMS NEW ALBUM FOR NEXT YEAR

Armored Saint have signed a new deal with Metal Blade Records for the release of the band’s next studio album, due in 2015, reports Blabbermouth.

“We have been with Metal Blade for the last three records now,” singer John Bush said during an appearance on Inside Metal with host Bob Nalbandian. “[Metal Blade head honcho] Brian [Slagel] is awesome. Without Brian, there would, basically, not be Armored Saint, quite frankly; there would not be a band. I mean, for him I think it’s a labor of love. He’s not looking to go out and buy a new house in Miami Beach with the revenue that he’s gonna get from Armored Sait. He does it ’cause he cares, and he wants it, and he believes in us, and he knows that he likes the music that we’re making, and we’re extremely honored and happy that he does that.”

Regarding the progress of the next CD, Bush stated, “We’ve been writing songs for about a year, a year and a couple months, maybe, and we’re about ready to do drums. Everything’s done a little differently these days, as far as recording-wise. But a lot of vocals have been already sung. And it’s gonna be awesome.”

He continued, “[Bassist] Joey [Vera] is gonna produce. He’s just really coming into his own as far as a jack of all trades, and a master. He’s awesome. He’s a great writer. He’s very, very meticulous in the way he does everything, and he gets the job done. He’s written some great stuff. And we have an awesome camaraderie as far as writing together. I’m proud of what we’re doing, I think it’s gonna be a cool record. We don’t have a title yet, but it will come out next year, and then we’ll do some shows.”

Armored Saint’s new album will feature the following songs, among others:

Speaking about the song Up Yours, Bush said, “It’s gonna be a great song. [It’s got a] very big anthem-type vibe to it. It’s not gonna sound anything like Can U Deliver, but if there was a vibe that just kind of felt like that, it’s this song. And it’s cool. It’s got a cool title and a fun chorus that you can sing along to.”

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I GET BORED….

Hi all. I very rarely post in this section, but the mood struck me.

The other day I was quite bored and looking for something valid and interesting to fill that void. I ran across my AC/DC Plug Me In DVD box set, which I had not watched in quite some time. One of the many performances featured on first DVD is a live show from the Apollo Theatre in Glasgow, Scotland dated April 1978. I was amazed by how great the band sounded, and how the songs, in my opinion, did not sound dated.

I thought I would share this vintage gem of Dog Eat Dog from that very show. The lyrics, like many that Bon wrote, are ingenious, quite comical and contain little contradictions such as, “That’s a lie, [hey] that’s the truth.”

So, I hope this video brings you all some warm memories, smiles to your faces and gets your blood pumping.

ACCORDING TO SINGER KLAUS MEINE, THE SCORPIONS WILL WELCOME DRUMMER KOTTAK BACK AFTER REHAB

Scorpions frontman Klaus Meine says the band want drummer James Kottak to return from rehab as the “great guy” they remember. Also, Meine revealed Kottak will play drums on the band’s upcoming new album and take part in next year’s tour.

Kottak was jailed in Dubai after a drunken episode this year and his position in the band was unclear after they told him to sort himself out.

However, now Meine confirms that the band will stand by the drummer. The new album will be out early next year, with a tour to follow.

Meine tells Crazyscorps, “Of course we want James back. We said to him, ‘The door is open for you to come back. But first it’s up to you and you have to take care of yourself. Take it serious, go through a serious rehab.’

James will play the drums on the new album. Recording will place in Stockholm coming up very soon. I think James is doing everything to prepare himself to be in great shape and to be back next year for the tour.

We want to give him an outlook into a positive future and to help and support him through these difficult times. We are constantly in touch with James.”

As previously reported, the band planned to retire after their farewell tour, but changed their minds after “having too much fun to put down the guitars.”
