SEVENDUST ATTACK THE CHARTS WITH THE HIGHEST ALBUM SALES CHART POSITION OF THEIR CAREER WITH LATEST ALBUM “KILL THE FLAW”

Sevendust_640 Musical innovators Sevendust continue to impress with their latest album Kill The Flaw creating another milestone in the band’s career. Sevendust has achieved their highest album sales chart position of their nineteen-year career. The album attacked the charts this week debuting at #13 on the Billboard Top 200 based on total activity of over 21,000 units. The album also shot to #11 on the Top Current Albums, #2 on the Hard Music Albums, #2 on the Rock Albums, and #3 on Record Label Independent Albums selling over 20,600 units the first week. Kill The Flaw is the band’s 11th studio album and was released via 7Bros. Records with ADA/Warner Brothers Distribution. The new album was self-produced by Sevendust and recorded at Architekt Music in Butler, New Jersey with engineer/mixer Mike Ferretti.

Sevendust recently made headlines on September 9th when they were featured in the latest Apple Keynote speech from the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. Jen Folse, senior design producer and part of the Apple TV team, showcased Sevendust and their latest single Thank You during the finale of her promo of the new Apple TV. As she stated during her presentation in regards to Sevendust, “So you probably wouldn’t have guessed it, but I am quite the metal head and this is one of my favorite bands.” Thank You is already a Top 20 song at Active Rock in just a few short weeks.

Sevendust has been touring in support of Kill The Flaw. They are currently on the road as direct support on the Godsmack tour that tour wraps on October 19th in Ottawa, ON. The band is also playing Monster Energy Aftershock Festival in Elverta, CA on October 25th. Coming on the heels of the Godsmack tour, Sevendust has been tapped as direct support for the November dates of the Shinedown/Breaking Benjamin co-headlining tour. The band will join the tour starting on November 2nd in Sioux Falls, SD. The tour will be hitting Peoria, IL; Nashville, TN; and Little Rock, AR to name a few before it wraps up in Portland, ME on November 24th. Sevendust has been known for their amazing live shows as radio personality Lou Brutus recently stated, “The next time you see Sevendust perform at a festival, don’t watch them, watch the side of the stage, because you can bet every other band on the bill will be there taking notes & wondering how they got so f–king good.”

Sevendust formed in 1996 and have forged one of hard rock’s most diehard audiences. 2014’s acoustic offering Time Traveler’s & Bonfires saw an overwhelming response from that community, being quickly funded through a highly successful PledgeMusic campaign. Just a year prior, Black Out The Sun entered Billboard’s Top Hard Music Albums chart at #1 and landed at #18 on the Top 200. They kicked off their illustrious career with an untouchable string of three gold albums, beginning with their self-titled 1997 debut and continuing with Home in 1999 and Animosity in 2001. Along the way, they’ve sold out shows everywhere and given unforgettable performances at the likes of Rock On The Range, Woodstock, OZZfest, and Shiprocked!. However, the era of Kill The Flaw starts now.

Sevendust is comprised of iconic vocalist Lajon Witherspoon, the dual-guitar attack of John Connolly and Clint Lowery, and the driving rhythm section of Vince Hornsby on bass and Morgan Rose on drums.

newwhitesnakeguitaristjoelhokestra This Monday, October 12th – The world will hear what critics are calling “The Best Melodic Hard Rock Album Of The year!” Joel Hoekstra’s 13, Dying To Live, has come out of nowhere and is ready to take its place in the vanguard of the international melodic hard rock music scene. Stream the entire album, here.

“Over the last 7-8 years while playing with Night Ranger, Rock of Ages, Trans-Siberian Orchestra and now Whitesnake, I’ve had many requests from fans for a solo project of sorts,” explains Hoekstra. “Here it is! Recording it was a labor of love for me, as I did all of the writing, arranging, producing, etc. I’m honored to have some of the finest musicians in rock today bring these songs to life for me. Maybe I’m not a familiar “name” for many of you, but if you’re a fan of melodic, hard-rock that’s Dio-ish at its heaviest and Foreigner-ish at its lightest, I really think you’ll like this. Huge thanks go to Serafino Perugino and everyone at Frontiers for this opportunity and also for the generous move of sharing this entire album with you in advance! Have a listen!”

Pre-orders are now available on Amazon (CD & MP3) and iTunes (MP3). All MP3 pre-orders include instant downloads of Scream and Until I Left You (featuring Jeff Scott Soto) plus Long For The Days and Anymore (featuring Russell Allen).

SAMMY HAGAR SAYS THAT VAN HALEN WILL NOT ALLOW HIM TO SING ANY OF THE SONGS HE RECORDED WITH THE BAND, SAYS HE MAY SUE

sammyhagar400pix Andy Greene of Rolling Stone spoke with singer Sammy Hagar. Highlights of the interview appear below.

RS: You played some Van Halen songs on Live From Daryl’s House earlier this year. What happened next?

SH: [Laughs] There you go, Andy. You got the f–kin’ pick and shovel out now. Well, there is no question about it, I’d like this to be known, the Van Halen brothers will not allow me to do any of my own songs on TV. They can’t stop me from doing them live, because they’ve tried and they can’t. They want to pretend like Van Hagar never existed. The only Number One albums they’ve had in their life, and they want to pretend like they never happened. I don’t know why they hate me so bad, but I guess I’m too happy for them.

Yes, it’s true. They wouldn’t let me do them. I can hire an attorney and fight them and I’m going too, but I didn’t have time to do that then. On the new Circle DVD we’re making from the live album, Led Zeppelin agreed to let us use their music. And Van Halen said, “No.” And then I said, “F–k you.” I don’t need to do this to survive, and thank God, because otherwise, they would starve me out like I think they’re trying to do.

It’s the lowest, cheesiest thing ever. I wrote every lyric and every melody and I sang them in that band. Alex Van Halen played the f–king drums and Michael Anthony played bass, and I wrote music and lyrics. When you’re singing Right Now or Why Can’t This Be Love, that’s my music. I wrote all the lyrics.

RS: To be clear, they told you that you couldn’t put their music on a DVD too?

SH: Yeah, it’s going to happen, though. It just becomes a legal mess. Also, in my book I wanted to run some lyrics from the [Van Halen song] Cabo Wabo. They wouldn’t let me use one verse, in my f–king book, of my own lyrics. They fought it, and I didn’t have time to fight back since they did it at the 11th hour ’cause they’re assholes. It’s unbelievable that Led Zeppelin lets us cover their songs on TV and anywhere else, and the brothers won’t let me sing my f–king songs. And why? ‘Cause they can’t do them anymore. Without me, they can’t play those songs, and they’re f–king jealous. And that’s the thing that gives me comic relief out of the whole thing.

RS: How exactly did they try and stop you from even doing them live? That’s insane.

SH: When you play live, you turn your set list into ASCAP or whatever organization pays for it. When they saw that, somebody wrote a letter to my publishers or had a guy make a call asking if we’d stop playing those songs live. The answer was, “No.”

RS: You’re fighting back though. You put that video on YouTube when Eddie trashed Michael Anthony’s bass playing.

SH: It’s obvious the fans want Mikey back in Van Halen, before anyone. If it’s gonna be Dave or me, it doesn’t matter in this sense. The main thing they want is Mikey back in the band. God bless Wolfie. It’s got to be frustrating. But Eddie’s just trying to stick up for his kid and to justify that he has him playing bass. He shouldn’t have to justify that. He wants Wolfie in the band, that’s fine. But you don’t have to bash Mikey to make it okay. Mikey is the wrong guy to bash. He wouldn’t stand up for himself in a million years. That’s not because he’s chickenshit. It’s because he’s just such nice person.

RS: Do you ever think you’ll ever speak to Eddie again?

SH: I would hope so. Because that would be really sad if any one of us — I’ll put myself in the same category — took this to our graves. That is not where you take things. I would rather go to my grave with no enemies left. I just don’t think that would feel right. But who knows. Whatever. It’s not my decision because I was the one they pushed out and tried to f–k over. To me, it’s up to them to come back and say they’re sorry.

I’m not sorry for anything. I didn’t do anything. Matter of fact, I did everything for that band. It was 100 percent my heart and soul and the best I had to give. All I did was make Number One albums and a lot of money. That’s all I ever did for the band. Anything that’s been done has all been in anger towards myself and now Mikey, too. To me, they need to come and say, “We’re sorry.” And then our job would be to say, “Great, you’re forgiven.” Boom. Not for a reunion or anything like that. That’s over, to me. That’s completely f–king over. I wouldn’t want to be in a band like that right now.

I’d feel like a hypocrite for joining that band. How about that? There’s a good quote for you. If I joined Van Halen right now, I’d feel like the biggest hypocrite in the world. And I’m not a hypocrite.

In other Hagar news, the singer recently confirmed that Chickenfoot is working on new music. He also stated that he would love take both Chickenfoot and The Circle out on the road together. Read the news story, here.

DEEP PURPLE, CHEAP TRICK AND YES ARE AMONG THE NOMINEES FOR INDUCTION INTO THE ROCK N’ ROLL HALL OF FAME, CLASS OF 2016

deeppurple640 Rockers Nine Inch Nails, pop icon Janet Jackson and top-selling 1970s band Chicago were among the nominees announced on Thursday for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.

The eclectic list for this year’s crop of inductees also ranges from a bevy of 1970s-era acts such as Yes, The Cars, Steve Miller, Deep Purple and Cheap Trick, to so-called Queen of Funk Chaka Khan and disco sensation Chic, which has been nominated more than 10 times but has yet to gain entrance.

Rounding out the list of nominees for induction are The Smiths, who broke up many years ago, R & B group The Spinners, L.A. band Los Lobos, rappers N.W.A. and The J.B.’s.

Jackson, despite her decades-long status as a top force in pop music, had never before been nominated. The 49-year-old sister of pop legend Michael Jackson recently released her first album since 2008.

Artists are eligible 25 years after the release of their first record for induction into the Hall of Fame, which was established in 1983.

More than 800 artists, music industry professionals and historians will decide who will be inducted. Fans will also be able to cast their votes.

The top five artists selected by the public will comprise a “fans’ ballot” that will be counted along with the other ballots to select the 2016 inductees.

Inductees are ultimately represented in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland which features exhibits, educational programs, a library and archives.

The Hall of Fame will announce its choices in December and they will be inducted at a ceremony in New York on April 8th.

SAXON RELEASE LYRIC VIDEO FOR “QUEEN OF HEARTS,” LISTEN HERE

saxon2011

Saxon have release a lyric video for Queen Of Hearts from their fortcoming album Battering Ram, the follow-up to 2013’s Sacrifice.

“With Queen of Hearts I wanted to write something around Lewis Carroll’s Alice In Wonderland, and it’s about the chess game that happens in the story,” says Biff. “I wanted it to have prog-feeling in the way of its ambiance and mood. It is a masterpiece of metal and stylistically it is loosely based in Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson.”

Battering Ram was produced by Andy Sneap at his Backstage Recording Studios in rural Derbyshire, and will be released on October 16th. Byford has described the album as “a clash between the retro Saxon and the modern Saxon.” The band released a video for the title track in July (view it here,) and will head out on tour in November, before joining Motorhead for their 40th anniversary shows early next year.
