BASSIST BOB DAISLEY THANKS “EACH AND EVERY” FAN FOR SUPPORTING HIM AFTER SHARON OSBOURNE SLAMS HIM IN AN INTERVIEW

In a recent interview with Celebrity Access Encore, Sharon Osbourne slammed former Ozzy Osbourne bassist, Bob Daisley‘s, contributions to Osbourne’s solo career, and even referred to the musician “a sad old f%$k.”

Daisley has posted the following message on his Facebook page writing:

“I have to say, I’m truly moved and impressed by the fans who have left messages and supportive words. It’s good to know that so many of you valuable people know so much about my history and are aware of the actual truth. I’d simply like to say a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to each and every one of you; I’ve read every single message that was posted.
Love to you all,
Bob Daisley.”

Underneath his message, Daisley also posted picture of what appears to be a picture of the Ultimate Sin era Osbourne, with the caption, “When Ozzy thanked his ‘Long-time lyricist and mate Bob Daisley’, from Billboard Magazine, 1986.

Daisley has repeatedly said in interviews, and in his memoir, For Facts Sake, that he, [Drummer Lee] Kerslake and guitarist Randy Rhoads were initially led to believe they would be part of a band called Blizzard Of Ozz, with Ozzy as the group’s lead singer.

Nine months ago, Sharon and Ozzy announced that Daisley had re-signed his U.S. publishing to their Blizzard Music Limited company after the 35-year reversion period. This new agreement encompasses songs co-written by Daisley from the first two Ozzy solo albums, which remain under the full control of Blizzard Music Limited worldwide.

You’re very welcome, Bob! We know the truth, we know the real deal! We know who was really behind Ozzy’s success, most of it. And thank you, Bob, for writing some of the greatest rock songs in Rock ‘n’ Roll history! Cheers!!

Thanks to a very resourceful fan on the Blabbermouth comments section, they dug up a copy of an old poster proving Daisley correct, that the band was originally billed as “Blizzard of Oz.”

Apparently, it was noted the band canceled this appearance, and was replaced by Slade. Additionally, it was noted gear (t-shirts, posters, etc.) were made for the “Blizzard of Oz” band.

Another poster named Christopher Elrod wrote:

“In the summer of 1981 I had the honor of seeing Ozzy at the City Auditorium in Colorado Springs, CO (a VERY young group of guys calling themselves Def Leppard opened the show). The highlight – of course – was Randy Rhoads. Earlier that day Ozzy was on the local radio station doing an interview (KILO 94) and they asked him about the band. He said that it had been called Blizzard Of Ozz with Daisley and Kerslake – but that it didn’t really work out. He stated the normal “creative differences” mumbo jumbo. He went on to add that he broke up the band – kept Randy – hired Tommy and Rudy – and was now moving forward as a solo act. Ozzy went to great lengths to say that he was really a band guy – which is why he put together Blizzard – and that he was uncomfrotable with his “new role” as a solo act. I have no clue what the contracts, legal paperwork or documents say from that time, but I know what I heard Ozzy say on the radio that day. There seems to be some validity in what Bob is claiming – whether he can legally prove it or not.

I think it also needs to be pointed out that Randy was ready to quit at the time of his death. Those that knew him always seem to indicate that it was much more than just Randy wanting to play classical music.”

Exactly! Hopefully this clears up some of the confusion. The “Blizzard Of Ozz” was the name of the band, not just the name of the first album, I thought everybody already knew that? Shannon!

Love that poster. Thanks for sharing it Dana. Interesting to see the top billing bands. Maiden & Samson and then Pat Travers who Tommy was playing for back then. Somewhat a who’s-who of great hard rock up and comer’s.

Dana…dear…it’s right under “Blizzard” the big kaleidoscope O with the Z next to it…..

    • Dana on

      Still don’t see it…

  • shannon mehaffey on

There’s so many things wrong with Bob’s argument….he makes mountains out of molehills….and Jake’s story about Sharon is flat out false. Come on, Blizzard of Ozz was the name of the band?…that’s so flimsy …lol….it’s like you’re immune to facts.

    • Dana on

And you were there? You know all these people personally?

    • shannon mehaffey on

I wasn’t there but I am close to people who were as to Jake’s account…and then some of what Bob says just on its face is petty; like who cares if Kerslake said “oh no” in Flying High Again and Ozzy picked up on it….that’s so insignificant…..Dana “OZ” is in huge letters…are you being serious?

    • Dana on

No, it’s possible my vision is going, but I really don’t see it. At this point, it’s 12:23 AM, I am long over it.

    • shannon mehaffey on

Dana, I am sorry, please feel better…I will talk to you later.

    • Rattlehead on

Sorry, Shannon, but you’re flat out wrong. Blizzard of Ozz was initially supposed to be a band. That band name was recommended by Ozzy’s dad. And, IMO, Bob is not making “mountains out of molehills”. Bob is entitled to credit for his accomplishments, even if he did make bad business arrangements that did not financially make him the money he otherwise would have made. Sharon is just pissed at Bob for challenging her and she carries grudges….just ask Iron Maiden.

  • shannon mehaffey on

Just because Sharon did some nasty things to some people isn’t grounds for this blind bias against her that has no basis in reality but then humans have immense capacity for rationalization….”She did somehting bad so let’s frame anything we can against her because she’s guilty of something..” I can’t tolerate that, sorry.

    • Dana on

I have moved on, and again, this is not the proper story to continue this discourse.

    • shannon mehaffey on

Guys were on here calling Sharon an fing bitch and this and that and stupid me comes on here with an actual decent rebuttal …lol….it’s the Twilight Zone on here now.

In late 1979, under the management of the Ardens, Osbourne formed THE BLIZZARD OF OZZ, – THE BAND!! That’s according to Wikipedia, and pretty much what I remember reading years ago in either Metal Edge, Hit Parader, Circus, or Creem magazine. Nobody is saying Ozzy didn’t come up with the name “Blizzard Of Ozz,” but early on that WAS the name of the band that Bob, Lee, Randy, and Don were all a part of. That is of course until Sharon came along…

    • Doug R. on

Absolutely! Thanks, bro! There’s all the proof you need!!! Now let’s move on!
