ANTHRAX GUITARIST SCOTT IAN DEFENDS KISS’ DECISION NOT TO PLAY AT THE ROCK N’ ROLL HALL OF FAME CEREMONY

scottian650 According to blabbermouth.net, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian has defended KISS’ Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons for their announcement that no members of KISS will be playing at the April 10th Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony in Brooklyn.

Speaking to Rover’s Morning Glory, a syndicated hot-talk/comedy radio show airing weekday mornings on Cleveland rock station WMMS (100.7 FM), Ian joked, “Look, I’ve got Gene Simmons tattooed on my leg, so whatever Gene says is what goes.”

He continued, “I’m a [KISS] fan, just like everyone else, and would I wanna see, if I was going… I’m not going to the Hall Of Fame thing, so would I wanna see the four original dudes back in makeup one more time? Of course I would, as a fan. But bands don’t do things dictated by what the audience wants. A band would last about a year if that’s how you worked. You have to do things the way you wanna do them.

KISS has been around for 40 years and are bigger now than they were in 1977 because Gene and Paul make smart decisions — that’s why. So, as a fan, and if you love them, you have to abide by the decisions that Gene and Paul are making for their brand and their band. So, why people get so upset over these things, I really don’t understand. Like, if they decided they were playing with [current KISS members] Tommy [Thayer, guitar] and Eric [Singer, drums], so fine. That’s what they’re doing. This is their band. This has been the lineup for a long time now.

I get it — those two guys [Tommy and Eric] aren’t the guys who are getting into the Hall Of Fame [with Paul and Gene], it’s Ace and Peter… you know, I get it. So I think they made the right decision now by saying, ‘We’re just not gonna play. You can’t please everybody. We’re just gonna shut it down and just not do it.’ I get it. I understand.”

All the HOF wanted to do was celebrate the ORIG 4 guys who started this whole thing. 40 years is fantastic with everyone that helped along the way, but it was the 1st 4 guys who started it all. Paul and Gene should have embraced it, thank everyone, then have a special performance with the orig 4 and move on. Now it’s spun into such a negative impact on the KISS world. It’s disgusting on how Paul and Gene have reacted. I have supported KISS throughout every lineup since HITS, but now I don’t even want to listen to them.

Brett’s casino gigs will negate Poison…he needs bread, he follows the dollar. Leppard will double bill with anybody, their income is touring. Kiss triple packaging up is sad…but they know doing a tour with a cheap opener like Anthrax will be empty seats.

Bigger now than in 77 wow Mr. Ian I respect your opinion but your so full of sh*t In 77 they were huge now they need the Crue to help them out.

Lollipop Guild featured at B.B. King’s. Stool provided? Stupidity included with your ticket, photo-op with Scott only if you buy his shit CD…box provided to Scott to get him in your photographs. Crue saved their asses. Who provides the stool, you or B.B. King’s? 4 freakin songs with the big 4 now we get nothing. Gene is afraid the response would be so awesome he’d be fielding the reunion potential asked every single day. Support Ace & Peter…ram the Kiss Nation response at him during the book signings.

They make smart decisions? That’s why a lot of their album and concert sales started to drop over the years. The only smart decisions they ever made were adding Eric Carr, taking off the make-up in 1983 and the Reunion Tour in 1996-97! Give me a break! If they make such “wise decisions” how come they never had a Number 1 album or single ever in their 40 years in the music world? Scott needs to get a clue!

Your last sentence says it all…40 years. Anyone that lasts 40 years obviously has done something right. No, they didn’t have a number 1 single or album…so. Of course they’ve made bad decisions but 40 years later and their still here. They did something right. Name all the other bands that’s lasted for 40 year.
