ACE FREHLEY SAYS WOULD LIKE TO BE INVOLVED WITH KISS’ FAREWELL TOUR “FOR THE FANS”

Ace Frehley says he’s hoping to be asked to join Kiss on their End Of The Road world tour.

The band announced their intention to head out for a final time last week, and while no dates have been confirmed, Frehley says he’d like to be involved “for the fans.”

He made the comments at the Hollywood Musicians Institute this week, saying, “I haven’t been asked. I had a meeting with those guys several months ago and they talked about retiring to me, and that didn’t seem right either. Who knows what’s going to happen?

I read comments on the internet and I fall off my bed laughing. There’s all these people that have all these different ideas of a configuration of what the next KISS tour should be and it’s crazy. But overwhelmingly, they want me back in the band, I think. That’s what I’m reading on the internet.”

Frehley added, “I’m doing fine on my own. My career is on an upswing and I’m having a ton of fun – I like producing my own records. I don’t like anybody standing over my shoulder telling me what to do. I’ve had a lot of freedom, and working with Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons again, it would be different. But then again, I’d probably make $5 or $10 million, so I might consider that…

Hopefully next year, what all the KISS fans really want to happen will happen. I’m hoping. I want to be involved, especially for the fans. It’s not like my dream job, because I’ve done it a couple of times and quit, but I really want to do it for the fans if it’s going to happen.”

Speculation had been swirling that Frehley could commence another stint with Kiss ever since he and Stanley reconnected in 2016.

However, both Stanley and Simmons have since ruled out the possibility, with Simmons saying in September last year: “That’s not gonna happen. Ace has been in and out of the band three different times. That’s enough.”

Frehley will release his new solo album Spaceman on October 19th through Entertainment One, which features Simmons on bass on two tracks: Your Wish Is My Command and Without You I’m Nothing, which Ace co-wrote with his old bandmate.

You know what, forget about all the bad blood and all the bulls–t, let’s just all come together and have the biggest “Rock And Roll Party” ever! Who, what, when, where, why, how, whatever! Work it out, and we’ll all be there! We know it won’t be like 1977, or even 1997, but that’s ok, good, bad, or whatever, just keep it real!

A last KISS tour with Tommy Thayer in the Space Man makeup. What a hilarious travesty. Who the heck wants to have Tommy Thayer come to their town ‘one last time’?

    • Mr. Rock And Roll on

The same people that get Tommy Thayer tattoos. All 6 of them.

You’re 100% correct, DR, it would be a travesty. KI$$ should end it as it began, with original member character participation. After all, the band is saying “Farewell”, so performances with the original members doesn’t diminish the going concern of the current version of band, anyway. Rather, it’s a great way to “bookend” a successful career of the so called “hottest band in the world”.

Ace & Peter are icons, as are their “characters,” The Spaceman and The Catman are symbolic with Ace & Peter, NOT Tommy & Eric! How many different ways can we explain it? And why the hell do we even have to? Even Eddie Trunk, who has probably played and still plays more KISS music than any other DJ, still gets sh-t from some for not supporting this charade! Wether you love Ace & Peter or hate them or whatever, they helped create and build KISS, and no matter what, they absolutely should be included in the End Of The Road tour! And I got a feeling they will. After all, KISStory always repeats itself! 😉 March on, KISS Army! 🙂

But as a pure business decision, i.e., if I’m Paul and Gene, I put Eric and Tommy in those classic characters, so on that level, I have to respect it.

Gene can say all he wants that Ace isn’t going to be involved. No Ace? No Pete? No me at any of the shows, and I know I am not alone by a longshot. “Kiss brought their End Of The Road farewell tour to a string of state fairs across America, but boy oh boy Tommy and Eric are such better musicians than Ace and Peter, and we all know that’s all that matters! Stay tuned as half the iconic band Kiss are interviewed once again, typical soundbites at the ready, filling all of our ears with the same rhetoric and flat out horseshit they have been yammering on with for decades!”

This argument is never ending. Guys, you’re putting me to sleep. Make Bill Ward the drummer. Peter Criss has been on Social Security for 10 years. I WANT TO ROCK AND ROLL ALL NIGHT AND DRINK ENSURE EVERY DAY. In fairness, Ace is making good music these days and is kicking ass in these small venues. Either way you have to be happy for the guy. An argument could also be made in favor of Bruce Kulick as Penny Wise or some s–t. I don’t know. Goodbye KISS, you’ll be missed.

… (I’m one of the guys in jail with Billy Ray Valentine in Trading Places)….Yeah!

    • Doug R. on

What’s wrong with ENSURE? I just had one with my breakfast, uh-oh, I must be getting old! LOL!!!

    • Doug R. on

Trading Places? I LOVE that movie! Hilarious!!!

    • Doug R. on

Oh wait a minute, are you really talking about the movie, or Tommy & Eric?

      (in that voice again) Yeah!
