ACE FREHLEY SAYS WOULD LIKE TO BE INVOLVED WITH KISS’ FAREWELL TOUR “FOR THE FANS”

Ace Frehley says he’s hoping to be asked to join Kiss on their End Of The Road world tour.

The band announced their intention to head out for a final time last week, and while no dates have been confirmed, Frehley says he’d like to be involved “for the fans.”

He made the comments at the Hollywood Musicians Institute this week, saying, “I haven’t been asked. I had a meeting with those guys several months ago and they talked about retiring to me, and that didn’t seem right either. Who knows what’s going to happen?

I read comments on the internet and I fall off my bed laughing. There’s all these people that have all these different ideas of a configuration of what the next KISS tour should be and it’s crazy. But overwhelmingly, they want me back in the band, I think. That’s what I’m reading on the internet.”

Frehley added, “I’m doing fine on my own. My career is on an upswing and I’m having a ton of fun – I like producing my own records. I don’t like anybody standing over my shoulder telling me what to do. I’ve had a lot of freedom, and working with Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons again, it would be different. But then again, I’d probably make $5 or $10 million, so I might consider that…

Hopefully next year, what all the KISS fans really want to happen will happen. I’m hoping. I want to be involved, especially for the fans. It’s not like my dream job, because I’ve done it a couple of times and quit, but I really want to do it for the fans if it’s going to happen.”

Speculation had been swirling that Frehley could commence another stint with Kiss ever since he and Stanley reconnected in 2016.

However, both Stanley and Simmons have since ruled out the possibility, with Simmons saying in September last year: “That’s not gonna happen. Ace has been in and out of the band three different times. That’s enough.”

Frehley will release his new solo album Spaceman on October 19th through Entertainment One, which features Simmons on bass on two tracks: Your Wish Is My Command and Without You I’m Nothing, which Ace co-wrote with his old bandmate.

I already saw Kiss on the farewell tour with Ace. At least Ozzy called his tour “no more tours 2.” I may go to a show just to take my son so he can at least see a version of Kiss. I took him to see Alice Cooper the other week and he loved it. And Alice still delivers.

AND, Alice is still ALICE! 😉

Doug makes a good point but here we have a situation where Gene put someone in Alice’s makeup and it worked…lol….a combination of the stupidity of Kiss fans (how else do you explain someone who buys the exact same songs over and over again in different formats….I did get that 40 year CD with just the singles, but I was on vacation for a few weeks and had no access to Kiss) and the sheer will of Gene and Paul, which is infectious..I have to respect those guys withstanding that I can’t stay mad at them because of our history. The only reason I had a problem with it was when they very misguidedly thought it was a good idea to bash Ace and Peter to coincide with this new unveiling…..

I took my boys to see Alice about three weeks ago. Its the second time we’ve seen him in the past two years. My 11 and 13 year olds are just hooked on him. To your point Randy, he and his band put on such a tight show. I can’t believe how good he still is.

If we’re talking about new characters, I would’ve made Eric Singer the Hawk, with an actual beak (that’s why Carr’s hawk makeup didn’t work…you can’t put makeup into a beak), and wings on his back…for Tommy, I’d make him a mad scientist…maybe some all white jumpsuit, ashen type makeup, or some type of makeup where he looks like he was exposed to massive radiation, basically if that mad scientist in Kiss Meets the Phantom joined Kiss and got a massive cellular boost…..give him some crazy contraptions on stage to mess with…another thing I would do is have the intro to the show with the band playing but then have Gene descend on to the stage in a King Kong type cage where he’s acting crazy and then he breaks out of his shackles and busts out….and almost runs over the other guys…

Ace’s guitar is the Kiss sound though….I hope they work something out.

I don’t know…I’ve been a huge KISS fan since 4th grade back in 1976 but just not sure about attending this End of the Road tour. Really sorry to see them go since they have been such a huge part of my life, but seeing KISS today isn’t what it was. Even without the whole Ace/Peter vs Tommy/Eric debate, there is the real issue of Paul’s voice and the fact that they simply cannot put on the same show they used to and no amount of pyro/explosions can make up for that. I mean, the pyro was always great, but what I always loved was how much KISS moved around on the stage. Paul was one of the best frontmen in rock, both in his between song rapport with the audience (still love the whole bit from 100,000 Years on KISS Alive. Plus, Ace lays down one of the BEST guitar solos of all time!) and his stage moves. The man never stopped. I still don’t know how he managed to jump the way he did while wearing the boots. He was just…cool. Gene, too, was always very animated, although in a different manner than Paul. But it worked – Gene would snap his head around and stalk the stage like some kind of demon. Now? Well, they all pretty much stand there and nothing more needs to be said about Paul’s voice. When I watch any of the KISSology videos or even some of their concert videos from just a few years ago, a lot has changed. And I have so many great memories of all the times I saw them when they truly put on the greatest show on earth. So, I don’t know. It would have to be something really special, and that means involving Ace and Peter at least in some manner. It would be so nice to see them all together on the stage taking a final bow. Without that…? However, if they do get everyone together – even if only for the final night of the tour – I’ll certainly buy the inevitable DVD!

If it’s a true farewell tour at least have all surviving members past and present up for certain parts of the show in make up or not.
All fareness Thayer and Singer are now current members of kiss even though they are wearing outfits that in principle belong to originals (technically Eric singer was a member of Kiss before the reunion tour
They should play some deep cuts and songs representing all eras of Kiss and include some newer music they created
Bu if it’s just 2 originals and 2 employees then no different from past tours
They gonna need all money they can get cause if Gene and Paul plan to roll out the tribute band I seriously doubt people will be interested
Oh and Dana don’t forget to add Chef’s salty balls to that cheesie poofs order
