9/29: LIVE SIRIUSXM TONIGHT W/SNAKE SABO & HELIX, PAUL STANLEY’S TWEET, TMS NEWS.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Live tonight 6-10P ET on  SiriusXM 39 TRUNKNation with music and talk that rocks. Snake Sabo from Skid Row sits in and Brian from Helix calls in.

I am aware that Paul Stanley’s official Twitter tweeted @thatmetalshow last night. My phone blew up about it. I have no idea why he did that. Maybe he meant to tweet “Wayne’s World” and made a mistake? Haha! He then said he put his phone down at a party and somebody did it? However it happened nice to know that he or whoever he was with had us on their mind. Our door as always remains open should he ever want to do TMS.

Speaking of TMS just hung up with VH1 and looks like we will be shooting once again weekly in NYC with shows premiering mid Feb 2015. No more info and nothing booked yet but that’s the plan. Thanks all for your patience and support, new shows coming I assure you, just a bit more of a wait.

^^^ You don’t have to; he’s playing a free show here in CT. Kiss played – and filled – the big amphitheater in CT a month ago, and Ace is playing a free show at the casino.

    • Eddie on

Can you name one example of an artist that leaves a huge name band and is bigger than the name? No. Which is why wars are waged over name ownership. Who ever said any solo artist had a bigger draw than the main band he left? Absurd to think Ace would play an arena. But by the way, Kiss doesn’t either unless it’s a co headline in the US.

    • Dana on

      Eddie,

The only artist that I can think of that might have been more successful than the band he left, would be Ozzy. I am sure at some point in their respective careers, Ozzy was outselling Sabbath, both in record and ticket sales. But, I could very well be wrong. However, if I am not, he is an exception to a very large rule.

      Dana from ET.com 🙂

    • Grim Reaper's See You In Hell Video on

I think Ted Nugent was more successful than the amboy dukes. Ozzy definitely a great example.

    • Brian B on

How about Sting ? He was pretty big after The Police. Peter Gabriel ? But certainly not a lead guitarist.

    • Dana on

      Brian,

I guess I have a one track mind, as I was only thinking about hard rock/heavy metal bands-LOL! But, if we are not focusing on that specific genre, then probably one of the biggest would be Michael Jackson of the Jackson 5.

      D 🙂

    • talktopete on

Nice dig on that last sentence. 90% of the bands you promote are barely hanging on. Rude.

    • Shawn on

David Lee Roth wad not bigger then Van Halen, but he sold out arenas as a solo artist,so did Ozzy and Dio.

    • Joe Pensanti on

DLR was the biggest rock star in America at that time. That’s why. A few years later he was back in bars.

    • Lahey on

      WHAM!

    • David C on

Lol even Dana beeotch slapped you on this one Eddie. Pucker up, Ace’s ass will be by shortly!

    • Dana on

      David,

      A couple of things:

      1. I wasn’t trying to show Eddie up or refute his claim. I was merely “mentioning” an example that I thought of and added that it an exception to a very large rule.

      2. It appears that the only beeotch here is you-LOL!

      Dana from ET.com 🙂

    • David C on

Lol thanks Dana, I know that wasn’t your intent. But don’t be scared to knock Eddie’s ass down when he makes an incorrect blanket statement without giving it any thought like “can you name one example” in that arrogant tone lol.

The right comparison is Ace vs. Gene or Paul solo.

    • bigsled on

      Eddie

Don’t let these couch potatoes draw you in !

A point to make and has been made is What does Paul draw by himself.. And what would Gene draw..
We already know what Paul draws by himself . The same if not less than Ace .

These things have been discussed so many times over the years. These couch potatoes c’mon here that are either :
      A) trying to get their hero and idol ( You ) to talk to them or
      B) are new to the Kiss world

It’s just like the couch potatoe that comes on the forums and makes his statement that he heard from Gene and Paul about how Thayer had to teach( refresh) Ace his guitar parts before the reunion
. The statements are juvenile and hold no water … Anybody who hasnt played a certain song for 1yr, 5 yrs or 15 yrs would need to figure them out again . Thats what rehearsal’s are for !
I saw Gene and Paul on the conventions tour and they forgot many parts . sometimes almost the whole song when the time came and Paul would ask the crowd what they wanted to hear.
You should mention these things on tms.

      ps
Please try to get multiple members of ac/dc on tms for the whole hour .
Instead of asking them what their top 5 albums are ask them what their top 5 songs are ..

    • Joe Pensanti on

Kiss fills Mohegan Sun arena because they have the name. “Kiss” will draw more than Ace. Let’s see Paul Stanley solo fill the arena. Ummmm….no.

    • Grim Reaper's See You In Hell Video on

Great point! Paul did a solo tour for Live To Win when he could still sing and played clubs and small venues not even close to being arena’s.

    • Eric Heaton on

And I seen that tour…paul was in top form..that may have been the last time his voice was solid…gene cant touch him as a solo act.

  • Beth Milligan on

As always can’t wait for the new TMS episodes. Will see you in Houston in Dec. Glad your making a return trip to the Lone Star State. By night my 12 yr old son takes my “Hail to the King” Avenged Sevenfold cd; by day I steal it back!

    • Eddie on

      Awesome! See you soon

    • talktopete on

M Shadows is a great guy and guest, on TMS but seriously the most overrated band in the history of rock. Generic, boring crap.

    • Beth Milligan on

Well as M Shadows himself would say, all opinions welcome, but boy do I disagree. They are continuing on in the same vein (NOT identical) to Metallica, GNR, and my husband hears Ronnie James Dio in the way the songs are done. They far from being on a pedestal, (a place perhaps reserved for Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, etc.) but they are hitting out of the park for all of us.

  • Mike on

    1) All 4 of the original members of KISS should hang it up. Not one of them plays or sings like they did in the 70s. They have all deteriorated greatly. Eric Singer is a phenomenal drummer and singer, but it does not sound like KISS to me. Tommy Thayer is a superior guitarist than Ace Frehley at this point in time. He sounds alot like Ace, but not as good as Ace used to be in the heyday. I wish Vinnie was back in the band! Maybe they’d put out good albums again. Vinnie saved KISS’ ass. The last 3 good KISS albums were the ones Vinnie contributed to.
    2) Skid Row and Sebastian should get back together but they are all behaving like children. “Can’t we all just get along?”
    3) Only guys like Phil Collins and Eric Clapton have eclipsed or at least equalled their bands. But that was a different time.
    4) Band names are brand names, like Coca Cola or Budweiser. It’s alot more than music. Have you noticed how the legends we know today all had great names?

KISS, AC/DC, JUDAS PRIEST, VAN HALEN, MOTLEY CRUE, AEROSMITH, IRON MAIDEN, BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE, LED ZEPPELIN, THE WHO, RUSH, GENESIS, GUNS N ROSES, endless great bands with great names.

    • Grim Reaper's See You In Hell Video on

Have you heard Ace Frehley’s new record? Ace is hands down the superior player. Always has been and always will be. The real Tommy Thayer can be heard on the Black N Blue records. They never went anywhere and Tommy learned how to be a great Ace impersonator through being a roadie and putting together some great Kiss videos. There’s only one real spaceman. This is not personal towards Thayer it’s just a fact. My Condolences to the Thayer family for their loss.

Eddie please get Grim Reaper on TMS and have the singer wear that outfit seen in the see you in hell video!

    • Lahey on

      LOL…Great name!

    • Mike on

ACE is NOT a good guitar player anymore. He USED to be…

    • Grim Reaper's See You In Hell Video on

Come on Mike, although you’re certainly entitled to your opinion, to say he used to be a good guitar player is not accurate. The hooks and solos on his new record have made my stereo smoke dude.

    • talktopete on

Gee, thanks for your OPINION mike

    • Eric Heaton on

Thayer sounds nothing like Ace…his tone sucks…hes just impersonating ace and collecting a check..

  • Mike on

Sadly, few remember Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen or Captain Beefheart or Mungo Jerry. Believe it or not, the first two are brilliant artists, but their fan base is limited. That is how important a name is….

    • Brian B on

      Hot Rod Lincoln !!

    • Van Helsing's Kid on

There’s a lot of artists who made it bigger (usually they were the prime songwriters anyway)
Especially if you venture into the pop world. But staying with rock here’s a few:
      Rory Gallagher from Taste
      Peter Frampton from Humble Pie
Ritchie Blackmore from Screaming Lord Such
And who was that that back up player from the Isley Brothers?…. oh, yeah Jimi Hendrix!

Mike- Glad I’m not the only one on this site who knows Commander Cody!

    • Mike on

Like I said, another time…The only one I can think of in the past 10 years or even 20 years, is Beyonce!

    • Mike on

Rory Gallagher was never a star, Blackmore was a session guy and Purple was where he made his first mark mark of success where Rainbow did not eclipse Purple, and Frampton took a looong time before he eclipsed Humble Pie, but yes, it was a different time….35+ years ago…

    • David C on

Eddie is only talking about Ace. Nobody has ever left a band and been bigger than the band they left, which is why nobody ever better be dissing Ace, by god. Per Eddie.

Except for all of those other guys…

      Ace’s ass is coming…pucker up…SMOOCH.

      How many examples is that?

    • Eddie on

Man dude you have a lot of issues… especially for whatever agenda you have to spend so much time on my site and care so much..so thanks

    • David C on

I love your site and TMS but I find you full of BS over your statements that you aren’t an Ace Frehley ass kisser. Its obvious, so quit being a dick and denying it.

    • Eddie on

Okay, whatever you like to believe sir. I guess that’s why I just gave the album a 7 out of 10 in an interview I did. What was wrong with me? I better call the guy and tell him it’s 10 out of 10 to live up to your belief..

    • elliot on

nobody puts eddie in de nile!

  • George on

I find the whole Paul Stanley and the TMS tweet kinda odd why cause here you have Paul Stanley at a party puts his phone down and somebody takes his phone and tweets TMS first off why would Paul Stanley leave his Twitter account signed in ussaly you would log out of Twitter to prevent anybody from taking your phone and just tweeting on your account fishy you’d think Paul would log out to prevent that. Any way ace has allways been the best solo kiss arist I own a ace freely vinyl LP solo recod with his kiss makeup on and that album is great think it’s from the 70’s but great none the less. Everybody wants Paul and gene on TMS cause people want to hear live on TV there side of the whole story. Would they come on with controversy I don’t know but that’s thw fun of TMS you don’t know who’s gonna stop by or who’s gonna spill the beans it’s not a gossip show of course but a chance for metal artists to tell there side of the story about there band why it broke up and all that jazz.

    • bigsled on

We’ve already heard Stanley and Simmons side and all the reasons why they did this or that already. Thats why I have told eddie i personally would never, ever want to see them on TMS unless
Ace & Pete were on w/ them to rebuttal .
Lets face it Eddie is not going to come down heavy on them and debate like he would if it was another Kiss fan . I probably wouldn’t either .
So what you end up having is Eddie saying a few things about how he feels the first 5 minutes then you’d have Stanley and Simmons rebuttle with their usual half truth answers ,statements, and opinons we’ve all heard a thousand times brushing off Eddies opinons quickly and switching topics . The rest of the hour you’d have Simmons and Stanley plugging their brand…..
Thats why its much more exciting to hear Ace and Pete talk. They are real like ac/dc is real. Like Tesla is real .
I’ve been seeing Kiss since the late 70’s thru all the tours up thru 2001 . I dont like what they put out now, what they say now, how they handle situations now , . Nothing. Maybe a few songs off the last two.
I would rather remember Gene and Paul for what they once were or weren’t.. Before the egos . Before they came what they became . Everytime they open their mouth now something stupid comes out . I dont even watch when they are on tv anymore and that is huge .
Yes, I do still talk about them though . I guess 38 yrs is a long time to be passionate about something lol..
