4/29: RATT, A7X IN FL, RYCHE, PRIEST, PHILLY, MORE

Jam packed radio show last night! If you missed the interviews they will be On Demand on the SiriusXM app and no doubt online soon. Had Stephen Pearcy and Bobby Blotzer on separately talking about the Ratt situation. It sounds like this is pretty nasty at the moment but also sounds like there could be a possible resolution at some point. Stephen is open to making an album but clearly has issues with Blotzer it seems. Ratt truly was/is a great band that made some great records. Sucks when this stuff happens but we have seen it many times in the music business. From the Ratt perspective all options seem to be on the table so we will see what the next moves are. All I can do is present both sides with equal time and that’s what I did. Everyone can make their decisions from there.

Also thanks to M Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold for checking in. I’m about to leave for FL where I look forward to seeing the band live for the first time tomorrow at Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood along with Hellyeah and Adrenaline Mob. I will be selling and signing my book outside Hard Rock Live tomorrow starting 6PM. No ticket needed to get to me FYI.

Also thanks to Kip Winger for calling in. Winger has a new album out now called Better Days Coming.

I will be back for a live show on Q104.3 NYC this Friday at 11PM ET.

Not a surprise non Geoff Tate version of the band got the rights to the name. This should alleviate any confusion. What I am waiting to see is exactly what Geoff can bill his band as? That has not yet been revealed and has no doubt been decided as part of the long negotiation. Geoff also retains the rights to Mindcrime full performances in his settlement with the band. More to come and I wish both camps well.

New Priest song sounds cool but I refuse to really comments on music unless I have it sent in a proper way. The song was not made available commercially until today and listening to compressed streams on phones and computers is not how I want to asses and crank new music. I look forward to the album and glad the guys are getting ready to do stuff again.

Been listening to the new Tesla album which is out in June. Really great hard rock as usual from these guys. I’ll play it when the band gives me the green light.

Don’t forget coming to the Troc in Philly this Saturday night with Don and Jim for our live show. Both books available for sale at this event as well. Been a bit since I’ve been in Philadelphia, look forward to seeing you all there or in S FL tomorrow night.

I saw Poison not long ago and Bret Michaels’ voice was still pretty good (better than Pearcy’s).
After this latest Ratt breakup, I had an idea. Bret could hook up with Ratt and maybe another member of Poison, depending on who would be into it and get along the best. They could call it
Ratt Poison. The set list would be the very best of Ratt and Poison. I think it would be interesting.

Cool idea. I would go see that, but have no interest in seeing the current Ratt, Poison or Bret Michaels.

Goodness, people in bands are so stupid, they end up believing their own bullshit. Guess who pays? the fans, we do. La Torre ..hmm he sounds EXACTLY like Geoff, but not as good. Same with Foreigner’s singer. It’s just becoming a sick, sick joke. It’s all about branding, but really, the brand is a superficial identity, it’s the flesh and blood of who is in the band that constitutes the band. At least Motley have the sense to end it before it turns into this ridiculous farce.

Anybody ever spend a long time in a band ? After a while you get on each other’s nerves…. It’s just the way it is. Then there is the business relationships. Most fans do t have a clue as to how these things really go down, how people get paid and who gets the bigger slice of the pie. Put it this way, there are only two partners in the “kiss” corporation…Gene and Paul. Vinnie was an employee(refused to sign the employment agreement),Bruce,Singer, and Tommy are employees. It’s just the way it is. No such thing as “all for one and all for one” in the music business….just ask Don Felnor(Eagles).

BTW….can we get some love for Bruce Kulick some freakin’ love ? He so deserved to be inducted into the HOF ! He kept KISS relevant in the late 80’s ! Phenomenal guitarist.

Bruce is a nice guy and a good guitar player, but really?
      Animalize
      Asylum
      Crazy Nights
      Hot in the Shade
      Revenge
      Kiss Alive 3
Carnival of Souls: The Final Sessions
Hall of Fame material? I don’t think so. Kiss got in the HOF because of what they did in the 70s.

    • Leslie on

Actually, Animalize isn’t even included in that list, that would be Mark St. John.

    • Dustin on

Well, Timothy B. Schmidt was inducted with Eagles and was only featured on “The Long Run”. By your standards that doesn’t warrant an induction either. The HOF is a farce anyway. Bruce deserved it. He played on platinum albums. He was a huge part of Kiss in the 80’s. They didn’t induct Eric Carr either. What a slap that was. I say “F” the hall of lame anyway. I’ve said my peace.

I just saw Ratt in jan at petaluma, they sounded great and they didnt miss a beat having Jimmy Degrasso on drums. Not only is he a better drummer, he is also zero drama Fuck Blotzer he`s an idiot and things will never work if he`s in the band. Get Jimmy and give us some new Ratt !
