4/29: RATT, A7X IN FL, RYCHE, PRIEST, PHILLY, MORE

Jam packed radio show last night! If you missed the interviews they will be On Demand on the SiriusXM app and no doubt online soon. Had Stephen Pearcy and Bobby Blotzer on separately talking about the Ratt situation. It sounds like this is pretty nasty at the moment but also sounds like there could be a possible resolution at some point. Stephen is open to making an album but clearly has issues with Blotzer it seems. Ratt truly was/is a great band that made some great records. Sucks when this stuff happens but we have seen it many times in the music business. From the Ratt perspective all options seem to be on the table so we will see what the next moves are. All I can do is present both sides with equal time and that’s what I did. Everyone can make their decisions from there.

Also thanks to M Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold for checking in. I’m about to leave for FL where I look forward to seeing the band live for the first time tomorrow at Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood along with Hellyeah and Adrenaline Mob. I will be selling and signing my book outside Hard Rock Live tomorrow starting 6PM. No ticket needed to get to me FYI.

Also thanks to Kip Winger for calling in. Winger has a new album out now called Better Days Coming.

I will be back for a live show on Q104.3 NYC this Friday at 11PM ET.

Not a surprise non Geoff Tate version of the band got the rights to the name. This should alleviate any confusion. What I am waiting to see is exactly what Geoff can bill his band as? That has not yet been revealed and has no doubt been decided as part of the long negotiation. Geoff also retains the rights to Mindcrime full performances in his settlement with the band. More to come and I wish both camps well.

New Priest song sounds cool but I refuse to really comments on music unless I have it sent in a proper way. The song was not made available commercially until today and listening to compressed streams on phones and computers is not how I want to asses and crank new music. I look forward to the album and glad the guys are getting ready to do stuff again.

Been listening to the new Tesla album which is out in June. Really great hard rock as usual from these guys. I’ll play it when the band gives me the green light.

Don’t forget coming to the Troc in Philly this Saturday night with Don and Jim for our live show. Both books available for sale at this event as well. Been a bit since I’ve been in Philadelphia, look forward to seeing you all there or in S FL tomorrow night.

  1. Eddie-
Hopefully Ratt works it out and reforms…would like to at least see one more show from that lineup. Infestation was a good album, underrated. Thanks For what you do as always…

  2. I agree with Rick. Pearcy and Blotz are both asses but I’d much rather have Pearcy/Demartini continue on as Ratt than Blotz/Demartini. Pearcy/Demar were already writting songs together. Keep it going.

  3. I hope ratt works this out with Stephen, get back together & go out on tour with the crue! we finally get juan back, and then Stephen quits again, that sucks! love alice cooper, but could you imagine two of the biggest bands from the 80’s that started around the same time from around the same place, going out with a bang! I don’t know what the relationships are like now between ratt & crue, but if they’re all still good friends, I can only imagine what kind of party that would be like. I don’t think they ever did a tour together in the past, but man I’d give anything to see that! party animals, work it out & let’s party!

  4. Halford is 63 yrs old. He cannot sing anymore. Its a shame he’s pulling a Willie Mays and tarnishing his legacy. Of course Eddie is not big enough to tell us what he really thinks.

    1. Big enough? I have never commented on an album or song based off a stream on my phone or a live performance from an iPhone. I also don’t review albums based off of one song. Call me crazy. When I have a proper version of the song and album I will gladly post my review instead of jumping to every conclusion off of one song I heard so far as a stream on my phone.

    2. For a 63 year old guy he can still sing great. Could he sing “Exciter” now without tuning down? Probably not. Doesnt matter. He’s changed his music style over the years. Even Priest changed over the years. Listening to Halford’s last solo album I have no doubt he can still sing Priest-worthy metal. Dont exactly see how he’s tarnishing his legacy by one song? Maybe if the song was called “Turbo Lover 2”.

    3. What an Awful, nasty post. You come in here and bash one of metals most beloved voices and then jab at Eddie…immature.

  5. Y’know, I hate how legalities get things all fucked up. STEPHEN STARTED RATT. Seems a shame that an asshole like Blotzer has rights to the name when he wasn’t even an original member! You’d think that Stephen would be able to prove in a court of law that RATT was his from the start & that regardless of all the legal maneuvering since, it’s still HIS band & his name! Anyway, Blotzer needs to REALLY reconsider all of his nonsense, because without Stephen, the name RATT won’t make any money.
