3/18: NEW TMS W/BUSH, VERA, JASTA, BATIO, BECKER. DEE SNIDER/KISS, ALICE COOPER

Episode 5 of the new season of That Metal Show was shot last night. As I said many times this season is no doubt our most diverse and has many first time guests. That theme continues this Saturday with John Bush and Joey Vera of Armored Saint joining us for the first time (both were also in Anthrax) and Jamey Jasta returning to the show. Also via the Metal Modem Jason Becker joins us. As you may know Jason has ALS and had a film made about his life called “Not Dead Yet” that was amazing. Jason now speaks with his eyes and we connect with him through an interpreter. Incredible talent and story and he is still making music against all odds. See the film if you can. Also playing in the show is Michael Angelo Batio, another first time guest and insane shredder on two necks at the same time! Be sure to catch it 9P ET this Saturday on VH1C with a replay at 11P.

My podcast for the week posts tomorrow and features an interview with Alice Cooper. Free worldwide on Itunes or at www.podcastone.com Be sure to vote for me at the Podcast Awards via www.podcastawards.com . Thanks!

My recent interview with Dee Snider made some news when the portion of him talking about Kiss was posted on some websites including Ultimate Classic Rock. I recorded an in depth interview with Dee about his recent comments about Doug Aldrich and rock in general, and we also discussed Kiss, Foreigner and much more. Next Thursday I will post the Doug Aldrich interview and the following week the complete Dee interview for my podcast. So you can hear it completely. As you will hear in the full interview I don’t agree with him on some stuff and do on others. Dee reflects the same opinion I do about Kiss dressing Tommy & Eric as Ace and Peter. Here’s the truth, MANY people feel this way, including some members of bands Kiss has actually toured with in recent years. I hear about it constantly off the record. But hardly any will say it in a public setting or to the media. It’s just another byproduct of the super PC world we live in where so few will give an honest opinion on anything because to some you aren’t allowed to have an opinion and it will be distorted and attacked on social media. I have always respected people who speak honestly how they feel if I agree or not. As I have said so many times I love Bill Maher and Bill O’Reilly and watch both of their shows. I do NOT agree with every position they both have, but respect the hell out of their willingness to speak their mind. It’s no coincidence they are both massively successful. So props to Dee for being open about his feelings about Kiss and others. I have weighed in countless times on my position on Kiss so no need to revisit all that again. But it is so refreshing to find others in the public forum who speak openly. Trust me, there are many that feel one way but will never say it openly for fear of public backlash and that just sucks on all levels and makes things really boring I think. I’ll discuss this more in my podcast when I post Dee’s interview, which was a response to his comments on Doug Aldrich and we just started talking about other stuff along the way.

I’ll be in Falls Church VA and Willmington DE this weekend for shows with Don & Jim. Info on the home page!

Dee needs to just shut up…do another Christmas record Dee..or how bout another version of Leader of the Pack?? This guy has zero business commenting on Kiss, Doug Aldrich, or anyone else for that matter in the music biz…oh and why don’t you go on another reality show Dee?? Dee stands for D-Bag!! And he’s killing Kiss for I Was Made For Lovin You too?? What a complete ass!! Go back and do your long awaited country album you moron!! If it wasn’t for all of the reality shows he’s been on, no one would be interested in this a-hole and his band, although was great in the You Can’t Stop Rock and Roll and Stay Hungry years they have done nothing and I mean nothing since…it can’t stand when these aging rock stars have to keep their name in the press due to insulting other bands…

Coredrum… you realize you’re doing the same thing as Dee… expressing your opinion. You have zero business commenting on Dee Snider. How does that sound? Silly, right? Chill out. You think Kiss really gives an F that you’re defending them from Dee Snider? Not at all. There are more important things in life to get hung up about. But Dee has every right to say what ever he wants – just as you do. Having passion and expression is great, but it’s for everyone to have and express.

    • Coredrum on

I have every right to comment on some jackass that has been spewing crap about several bands/musicians, not just Kiss as I mentioned Doug Aldrich too…I didn’t go on a national radio show talking crap about others in my industry, nor did I put idiotic things on Twitter, all for no reason than to keep his face in the public eye…Dee has his right to speak, but then as anyone who does that on a national scale he deserves whatever response he gets. Having passion doesn’t mean you insult others for no reason, and for some class B entertainer to be talking crap for no reason about other bands is juvenile. As far as my comments, this is a rock website and these stories are put on here for comments so you should take your own advice and not worry about what somebody on a rock site says about Dee Freakin Snider…

so how was the play mrs. Lincoln?

    • Mr. Rock And Roll on

Elliot: The correct joke is this: “Other than that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?” Another funny thing I saw not too long ago was a phony Facebook post by Abraham Lincoln that read, “Goin’ to the theatre tonight with the Mrs., whoohoo!” And it said “John Wilkes Boothe likes this”… lmao

      thanks mr. rock and roll.

Coredrum, you ranting about Dee is almost as bad as Dee ranting about Doug, Kiss or all the other comments he made on Eddies radio show. I don’t like what Dee had to say but he is allowed to say what ever he wants, just like you are, but Dee didn’t go on and call people names like you just did. That is down right wrong and disrespectful of you to do that. You’re also disrespecting Mr. Trunk who has provided you this forum so you can speak your mind. Say what you want but I think you showed very little taste by doing so. Just my opinion. Let the bashing begin.

I thought seeing Joel Hoekstra on TMS was killer! Joel is on super cool dude. Thanks for having him on the show Eddie. John 5 as always just blew my mind, the man is one talented dude for sure.
Looking forward to this Saturdays TMS and still wishing Friday night rocks with Eddie Trunk was still live, but I see how hard it is to do it live now that you are on the road nearly every Friday night. No wonder you had to switch to pre recorded.

Get a life Bryan…anyone who goes out of their way to be nasty and say things about a band or player with such bravado like Dee deserves to be ridiculed…this is not about Kiss or Doug Aldrich…it’s about Dee’s big mouth and how foolish he looks when his own band has been a complete joke for a long time. Who is he to comment on another band, when he wasn’t even asked…disrespecting Eddie Trunk by my comments…now that’s laughable and so are you

    • Dan Beichner on

I’m with you, Coredrum. You ‘Spoke Your Mind.’ Dee’s big mouth shouldn’t be protected, so calm down John and Bryan.

Hey Eddie, it’s funny that Dee Snider is talking about Kiss when he did the same thing on the Twisted Sister Love is for Suckers album. He wrote and recorded it with different guys and released it and passed it off as a Twisted Sister album. Then he brought Eddie, JJ, and Mark back to jump around in the Hot Love video pretending to play it when they had absolutely nothing to do with it. Then Dee has the balls to say it’s the most underrated Twisted Sister album, when it’s not a Twisted Sister album at all.

    • Coredrum on

      Great points…

    • shannon mehaffey on

Dee didn’t dress up other guys and go out on tour. I welcome Dee’s commentary. There is no more tradition, the culture is all about the individual, and it’s based on perception…

  • Christina Arnold on

Did you hear about Robert Plant planning on touring with the Pixies sometime this year?

  • Todd Ranson on

I saw Kiss at the Tiger Stadium show and caught the Farewell Tour.
A few summers ago Kiss was on tour with Motley. My girlfriend and my son had never seen them. I knew of course Tommy and Eric were in the band but I thought it would be fun anyway. I was disappointed to say the least . Paul sounded horrible and Motley blew them off the stage. I didn’t want to see Kiss like that again or give them my hard earned cash.
Tiger Stadium… That was magic, electric in the air…That was KISS!!!

    • Eddie on

In all fairness and in the interest of balance I’m sure Motley had a show and energy that rivaled Kiss, but Vince has had his issues singing as well.

  • Mr. Rock And Roll on

Dee is a very nice person and a very good performer and wrote 2 great albums, the first 2 TS records. After that, meh. He’s allowed to have opinions of course, but should also take into consideration that his legend is more in his mind.

    • Eddie on

3 in my opinion;m Blade, You Can’t Stop R&R and Stay Hungry

    • Brian B on

I enjoyed the two Widowmaker albums. They might have been successful had they come along at a different time.

5 TMS episodes already! Damn, this season is going by fast! I have the feeling that this week’s show is lining up to be a great one. And I’m anxious to hear the Alice Cooper podcast. He often tells a lot of the same stories but he has a way of doing it that still makes them fun to hear.

12 total in the new season, thanks
