2/14: LIVE Q104.3 TONIGHT, PAUL STANLEY HOF COMMENTS, MEXICO CITY, MORE.

After feeling like hell the last couple weeks finally went to the Dr today to see what was up. Some sinus infection so he gave me the ole Z Pack to knock it out. He also told me a new study pretty much says almost all vitamins (including C for cold season) are a waste of money! Can we all get our money back? I swear it is impossible to do the right thing it seems! Regardless I will be back live tonight on Q104.3 NYC 11P-2A ET. Join me for music, talk, news and more, plus lot’s of giveaways. Listen at www.q1043.com or use the free iHeartradio app outside NYC area.

Interesting interview just posted in this sites news section with Paul Stanley on the HOF. I must say he makes many valid points about the Hall in general and I give him credit for speaking out that forcefully on the eve of his own induction. This is one instance where I agree with Paul. Kiss was snubbed for 15 years. This is something I’m sure the HOF (and I know some of their voters) still wish was not happening. Us fans feel this is important, but it is truly a joke if you look at the process and the rules as I have been saying for years. But if they are showing up, and it is only the original lineup (which it is being inducted), let’s hope it is done with the proper respect to that band. I am NOT looking for any original Kiss reunion, but I think MOST fans would agree it’s not asking for too much for a song or two one last time with Ace, Peter, Gene & Paul. We shall see soon. Some news has to come out very soon one way or the other because tickets are about to go on sale and fans will want to know exactly what they are buying and seeing that night no doubt. Let’s also not lose sight of the fact that for us Kiss is the story here. But in reality there are several other bands going in and for the HOF Kiss is likely viewed as a necessary evil here unfortunately. I assure you they are internally more excited about Springsteen’s band or Nirvana in truth. More very soon I’m sure..

Speaking of Kiss, they are one of many bands playing in Mexico City next month at the Hell & Heaven Fest. I was just brought on by the promoter to appear at this event both days. I am not going for interviews or media or TMS. I am going to do some fan meet & greets, stage announces and whatever else the promoter asks of me for the weekend. Whatever my personal feelings about Kiss now, or any band for that matter are, they have nothing to do with an event like this. I didn’t make the lineup and it is not about what I think. I am there to be a pro for the promoter, meet fans, and whatever else may come up. If you are going hope to see you. More news when I have it.

Hope you enjoy the all new TMS tomorrow night 11/10C on VH1C.

Me, Don & Jim live on stage 8P tomorrow night at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville NJ. I will be selling and signing both books and have merch for sale as well pre and post show. These are live stand up shows, NOT TMS tapings. It’s almost sold out but hope to see you there.

Have a good weekend, happy Valentine’s day.

Eddie do you think it will be awkward if you happen to run into Paul especially? I’ve seen older pics with Paul and you, and heard his radio jingle for your show ” my friend Eddie Trunk”. Its like the guy did a total 180 on his feelings about you. Hope you guys could work it out. With the Kissmas special and all the other deep tracks you play from these guys, it seems crazy that he would feel the way he does about you. On another note , Eddie you should get Riki Rachtman on your radio shows, bet he has some great stories to tell. Hope you feel better!

I can’t account for what is in peoples head if they don’t communicate. My door has always been open to him. But I give my honest thoughts about things when asked and some don’t like that. But he owes me nothing and of course has his right to whatever opinion he has. As for Riki if he in in NYC he is welcome. My understanding is he is in the racing side of things these days.

It’s fascinating how someone like Paul can be so thin-skinned. I hope you do get the chance to at least speak with him. I’m also surprised at how gene has been publicly dissing you, particularly after your sitdown with him. Curious, no?

Gave up a long time ago trying to figure it all out. Too much other stuff to do and way too many other bands that want to be a part of my shows thankfully.

And yet KISS is your white whale, isnĀ“t it?

I’m glad you are doing it, brutha, and doing it well. Keep up the great work. I’m off to watch the current TMS episode. Steve Brown on guitar! Cool guy.

Suggestion: How about Richie Scarlet as a in-studio guitarist?

Paul seems pretty reasonable for the most part. I think some of the venom comes from the fact that he has no control over the situation.

I would rather see Steve Perry reunite with Journey!

    • ACE on

Although Neil Schon has been saying some nice things, I doubt it’ll happen. Besides, word has it Perry’s voice is shot.

Holy shit is this the real ACE on here? If it is Ace you are the shit!!! I met you 2 times and you were real cool. You were always my favorite member if Kiss. Can’t wait to hear your new music!!!!

They must have met with HOF earlier this week or something. Paul tweeted a week or two about how Rolling Stone magazine’s Brian Hiatt was at his house interviewing him; “What a great guy.” Funny how things change … after all of the years that mag dissed both Led Zep and KISS. Also, what did you think about Paul’s comments regarding Ace and Peter playing at your recent anniversary show?

I haven’t seen too many really early copies of RS magazine, but I can attest that from 1975 onward they seemed into Led Zeppelin. They had the cover in ’75 and a great Jimmy Page interview. Don’t remember much about ’77 and onwards, but if they didn’t like Zep, it was pre-1975. I know Zeps albums were not reviewed well, including their classic one!

KISS, they never liked – as you said. The biggest about-face I know of from Rolling Stone was Peter Frampton. They loved him until about 1977 (after the cover shot that started Frampton’s downfall.) But his first solo album got a great review. By 1977 he was a big joke and never had any talent according to RS. But yeah, Bruce Springstein or U2 could release a pile of dog crap and RS would fawn all over it. Jim Florentine has a hilarious bit about noxious hip-hop records getting great reviews spewing stuff about bitches and hos, while a band like Motley Crue – singing about the same basic stuff, get trashed.

With Zep I meant “classic ones” – basically next to all their rekkids!

In a perfect world, the HOF would be a public entity like a museum or the library of congress… Something where anything considered “culturally significant” musically would be in it. Library of congress preserves films that are great such as Night of the Living Dead not because critics love it, but because it is a milestone in horror movies. It is important to the genre.

HOF just wants to stroke it’s own ego and congratulate itself on only allowing hip, critically acclaimed acts in who have no significance to guitar based rock.
