A message to the loyal fans of That Metal Show from Eddie, Jim & Don:

“We are sorry to report that VH1 Classic will not continue to make any new episodes of That Metal Show. It has been an incredible run of eight years, roughly 125 episodes and some really cool specials. The global response to TMS has been simply amazing, and we will be eternally grateful for the support from the rock and metal fans that have showed us so much love. We truly would have never made it as long as we did without you! A huge thanks also to the great crews we had over the years both in NYC and Los Angeles, to our producer Jeff Baumgardner, and to all the executives at VH1. And finally, thanks to the hundreds of artists that joined us on our set, had fun with us, shared their stories and many, many laughs. From the biggest names in rock history, to the up-and-comers: we thank you all for being a part of it.

Of course we very much want to keep That Metal Show alive, and with the blessing of VH1 Classic, we’ve got the keys to the show and are currently searching for a new home. We’re not sure where we’ll land, but we hope to be back in our studio and your living rooms as soon as possible. In the meantime, keep an eye out for us on the road and come say, “Hello.”

Thank you for watching all these years, and we’ll keep you posted as soon as we have news to share.”

You guys did a great job, and should hold your heads high. TMS was the only show to properly address OUR music in a respectful and thoughtful way. Someone is going to realize the size and dedication of this audience, and give you the podium you deserve. Keep up the great work Eddie, Don, Jim, Dana and all involved. You’ve already made a difference.

      Thanks very much!

I literally have 1,000 channels available to me on cable. If there is no room for TMS on one of these flippin channels, then life has definitely passed me by.

Bigger picture…does the mean VH1 Classic is moving away from rock in general?

I think there are major changes to come but no idea really. The execs behind TMS all gone. Rock and metal are viewed very niche by the mainstream. It is a hard sell but I am hopeful with the following we built

I find it ironic that vh1 feels metal and hard rock are too niche when that’s all they play on vh1 classic SAT AND SUN…if it’s not videos of metal, it’s Behind the Music of metal bands. Those “suits” are missing the boat…the passion metal fans have and continue to show, of all ages, is amazing and unlike any other genre…you’ll find a home, I know it…

So you tryin’ to tell me sumner redstone is broke??? LOL I don’t believe that for a jew York second….

It’s not a question of anyone having money, it’s if they want to spend it on a network, channel, show, etc. We’ll see..

Please excuse my language and tone, but you’re a racist a-hole. I am surprised Eddie let your comment through, I guess he was distracted. Had I read it first, it would have gone directly in the trash.

BTW, if that was an attempt at humor, it was an epic fail, “Haim.” But, here is an old joke that does work, if your lips s–t, what does your ass do?

Wow. I’m a little shocked at that. To be honest, it was the only time I ever watched VH-1, either on Dish or online. Your show reminded me a little of when I would stay up to watch Headbanger’s Ball many years ago, hoping for a glimpse of a new artist or a tidbit of news. I lived for that.

Netflix/Hulu or some other streaming portal would be awesome. VH-1 must be tanking if they are dumping your show, but maybe you’ll have better options open to you guys after this. It never really seemed like VH-1 had their heart in the show.

Here’s just a few of my many favorite memories of TMS:

Eddie’s meltdowns during “Stump The Trunk”…Rudy Sarzo?

Jim creeping chicks out during “Stump The Trunk”.

    The Top 5

    The Pick Of The Week.

    Jennifer.

Don and Jim babysitting Eddie’s kids and getting them to destroy Eddie’s records. That was hilarious!

    Lemmy.

All the great guitarists, bassists and drummers that played on the show.

Eddie nearly losing it when Michael Schenker gave him a guitar.

My idea of pitting BLACKOUT vs LOVE AT FIRST STING being used for The Throwdown!

The guitar jam between Michael Schenker and Kirk Hammett.

Ace Frehley bringing out his newest invention: “The Smoking Flute”.

Bobby Blitz’s story about taking Airborne tablets at the airport.

The guys being told they can’t drink on air, even after Miller High Life had been a sponsor at one time (Living the High Life!), and then Don and Jim broke the rules during a wine tasting and probably got in trouble for it.

Marilyn Manson WASTED on absinthe while on the show.

I could go on and on listing cool stuff i saw on TMS but it’d take up way too much space here. So I’ll just end by saying this:
Thank you Eddie, Jim and Don. Thank you for all the years of incredibly entertaining and informative shows you gave us. And thank you for being the hard rock and heavy metal champions you are.
