John Bonham is the greatest rock drummer of all time – bar none! A lot of lesser drummers try to get his sound by ripping off the vibe from Kashmir and When The Levee Breaks and soaking it in a ton of gated reverb (see: almost every ’80s hard-rock drummer), but Bonham was SO much more than just one or two plodding beats. There was so much more complexity, groove, swing, and funk to what he was playing. You can write an entire book on just the subtleties of his playing.
