SOURCE CLOSE TO SINGER BRIAN JOHNSON CLAIMS THE SINGER WAS NOT FIRED FROM AC/DC, A MUTUAL DECISION WAS REACHED BY BOTH PARTIES

Angus Young and Brian Johnson of AC/DC

According to Blast Echo, a reported “source” close to singer Brian Johnson, has come forward to contradict comedian Jim Breuer’s commentary that the vocalist was let go from AC/DC.

The source confirms that Johnson is no longer in AC/DC, but that it was a mutual decision with the rest of band, and that he “wasn’t fired, not at all.” “He’s not gonna be in the band anymore,” said the source, “because he doesn’t want to take a chance with his hearing.” The source said Johnson said to “consider him out of the band now.”

The source also corroborates that the band is looking for his replacement.

“[The band] decided maybe it’s not the best thing to continue [with Johnson] if it’s gonna mean his hearing is going to deteriorate completely,” says the source. “They don’t want that either.”

With Johnson gone, speculation continues to run rampant as to who might replace him. Krokus singer Marc Storace recently told BlastEcho he’d be interested in auditioning for the spot, but it’s not known if he’s even been contacted by AC/DC representatives.

[Dana’s note: Thank you, to Harold Taint, for sending me the link to this story.]

  1. Harold, that’s funny Dana!

I’d go see them with Marc Storace singing. Always liked Krokus.
I never got to see Bon Scott live. Was fortunate to see AC/DC with Brian in ’81, ’96, and last year at Wrigley Field. Wrigley concert was filmed for a DVD/Blu-ray future release, so at least we’ll have that to look forward to.
Hope Brian gets well soon, we’re pullin’ for ya mate!

    1. Mikey,

I believe he changed his name to “Harold” Taint a while ago-LOL!!! I actually think it is funnier that way, sounds so formal. 🙂

      D 🙂

  2. So f–king sad! I hope Brian was able to personally speak to Angus and work this bulls–te out. This was one of the last of the greats and to see them handle this situation so poorly is surprising and disappointing . Best of luck to Brian. What’s to be for the remainder of the tour we’ll soon see. I hope there’s a hint of truth to them getting an unknown replacement.

    Whose left? Aerosmith and Maiden…

    1. What’s been handled “poorly”? Beyond the basic fact of Brian’s hearing – which isn’t either sides “fault” – I don’t get any sense that either side is unhappy with this. They handle it like they handle it, and if they’re good with it, we should be too. The only thing “poor” about any of this was Jim Breuer, in my opinion. He had no business getting his nose involved with innuendo and rumor.

  3. Hopefully this version of the story is true and that they mutually agreed to part ways. Such a sad thing for Brian, having to go out this way, but his health is more important than the band, Plain and simple. Looks like he’s going to have to give up both things he loves most, singing and race cars. He’s got to be one of the coolest guys i’ve ever seen and for this to happen to him just plain sucks. I wish the best for Brian and hope that his hearing isn’t as bad as his doctors say it is.

  4. This sounds a little closer to being accurate, but I wish the band would issue a more detailed statement. In any event whether this is true or not, thanks so much to Brian for all the incredible music and memories through the years. You are a total class act, and the epitome of what it means to work hard to achieve your goals, but also to remain humble and appreciative to your millions of fans. If you ever find yourself in Maine I’d love to buy you a beer. So thankful I got to take my son to the show at Gillette Stadium last August. Incredible performance by the greatest live rock band of all time, in my opinion. A memory I’ll always cherish. God bless Brian, and God Bless AC/DC!!
