SKID ROW BASSIST RACHEL BOLAN LASHES OUT AT HATERS

skidrowwtonyharnell640 Skid Row bassist Rachel Bolan has run out of patience with people who post negative comments about the band’s current lineup.

He’s been receiving mixed reactions after they replaced frontman Johnny Solinger with ex-TNT singer Tony Harnell in April, and released a version of 18 And Life featuring Harnell.

Bolan writes on Facebook, “To all the haters, trolls and keyboard-banging dipsh–s – if you don’t like me or Skid Row, stay off the f–king page. I’m sure there’s something more constructive you can do with your time, like Pornhub or something. There you can satisfy yourself without being face to face with someone. That’s what you do best, right?”

Harnell has expressed a similar sentiment, posting, “If you don’t like the videos or other career stuff I post then don’t comment on my page. Go to some other page with people like you and hate on me or whoever. At least I’m out there working and doing my best!”

After the lineup change had been exclusively revealed on Eddie’s Sirius/XM show, Eddie Trunk Live, Bolan admitted that the band had already started working with Harnell before dismissing Solinger.

He said, “At certain times you just get the feeling someone isn’t putting 100% into things. And Skid Row is very important to the rest of us. And we wanted to carry on with quality performances and quality songs, so we decided to make a change.”

Harnell will appear on the third EP in the band’s United World Rebellion series later this year, and hopes to make a full-length album in 2016.

Hey, that’s a way to keep your fans and make some new ones, denigrate them. Those ” haters, trolls and keyboard-banging dipsh–s –’s” are mostly fans expecting people in the bands they loved to act like adults and make some music. It’s not rocket science, though that doesn’t excuse being mean. Also, clearly not Tony Harnell’s fault at all. He’s an ok singer, a little syrupy sweet for me though, I’m not a big fan.

So you want a social media presence but don’t want to deal with haters? Well, just shut it all down, because you don’t get one without the other.

Bach is the iconic lead singer for Skid Row. You can’t ever change that. What you can do, however is change your sound to reflect new members and growth. Sammy era VH sounds nothing like Dave era VH, they are two different sounding bands. Ozzy Sabbath is certainly different than Dio Sabbath, so it can be done. However bands like Journey, Queensryche, Yes, Skid Row, and others who find sound-a-likes to bash out the glory years fall a little flat for me, as does the complaining.

      Spot on comment!

It also might help to remember that even at their height, Skid Row were B-list at best. They were never Led Zeppelin (or even Bon Jovi, for that matter), so to act like that now, just seems silly and delusional. If Rachel enjoys playing with ever-more obscure singers on the Elks Club circuit because Sebastian Bach is just THAT unbearable for his delicate sensibilities, more power to him.

I sympathize with Rachel Bolan’s impatience. What would a reunion with Bach accomplish? Very few reunions have worked out over the long term, even when CD sales were still potentially significant. These people clamouring for a Skid Row reunion – are they poised at the starting gate, ready to buy CDs, concert tickets, VIP passes and merchandise? Would they crowdfund the separate tour bus for Bach? All too often reunions consist of about two weeks of euphoria, and then it’s back to the same old same old.

Says the man that used to have a chain hanging from his earlobe to his nose. That was supposed to be cool? Hey Bolan, nice job alienating whatever old school fans you have left. It’s no big deal, anyway. Skid Row had about a 2 year run and were gone. And even though Bas can be an egomaniacal annoying brat at times, he is 100% correct. He is the face of Skid Row, and nobody else in the band can deal with that hard fact. Case in point: Try reforming Blondie without Debbie Harry. replace her with Shirley Manson and see what happens…
