QUESTION OF THE WEEK, PER POSTER RATTLEHEAD, WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE “LIVE” ALBUMS?

I am not a fan of live albums, I prefer to watch live concerts on VHS/DVD/Blu-Ray.

However, if I had to choose, no surprise it is John SykesBad Boy Live!, Judas Priest‘s 30th Anniversary British Steel Tour (Thank you, Scott) and Ozzy Osbourne‘s Tribute.

  1. Not the biggest fan of the live albums either but if I chose one it would be Judas Priest 30th Anniversary British Steel tour recorded at the Hard Rock
in Florida. Has my favorite version of Victim of Changes on it

    1. Hello Scott,

I did not realize that was released as anything other than a DVD? If so, then I switch my vote to live performance over Unleashed In The East. I will correct now. Thanks! 🙂

    2. Hi Dana

I bought it when it came out & it had the DVD, the CD and a booklet with pictures. Hard to find now and sadly it’s not on any streaming services. Guess it went by the wayside of Jugulator

  2. I love live albums cuz they make the songs come alive. My favorites are:

KI$$ -Alive!. This is my #1 favorite album of all time. I just love this album so much.

Ted Nugent – Double Live Gonzo!

Judas Priest- Unleashed in the East

    Aerosmith- Live Bootleg!

    Scorpions – Tokyo Tapes

UFO – Strangers in the Night

So many more that I love, but these are my top picks.

Why is it, while Iron Maiden is my favorite heavy metal band, their “Live After Death” live album isn’t on my list??? I dunno, but for me there’s something special about 70’s live albums, though….

    1. Nice list @Rattlehead and question of the week. \m/

Did you get a ticket to Slayer in LA? Second show added.

    2. Tasker, no, I did not get a ticket for either Slayer show in LA cuz I thought they were too expensive…$247 for pit/general admission ticket. I paid $230 for a pit/gneral admission ticket to see Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Anthrax. How can a Slayer ticket be more expensive than seeing Iron Maiden with two Big 4 bands? For me, it’s not a question of affordability……I just refuse to pay what I consider to be crazy amounts of money for concert tickets, unless it’s Iron Maiden.

I’ve seen Slayer countless times, including the last tour show they did in LA in Nov 2019. While this show would be cool to see, not at those prices…..

    3. Good for you Rattle, I feel the same way. Maiden is so much better and true to it’s metal fanbase than any other great band of the genre’. The rest have bowed to the mighty dollar for endless cash grabs. Only way I’d go see Slayer again is if Dave came back. Cheers

  3. Ozzy Osbourne – Live and Loud
    Black Sabbath – Reunion
    Metallica – S & M
    W.A.S.P – Live….In the Raw
KISS – ALIVE!!! 2 (Can’t have listened to it in over 25 years, but always preferred it to ALIVE!! 1)
Judas Priest – British Steel 30th Anniversary

    1. I forgot to mention Judas Priest – Priest Live! and Van Halen – Right here, Right now.

  4. Kiss Alive II, and W.A.S.P. Double Live Assassins…maybe put Live Evil in there too…I love how the crowd sounds on there…just this almost faint “aaaahhhhhh” after getting bludgeoned for 90 minutes

  5. At Fillmore East- Allman Brothers
    Alive ! – Kiss
Two for the Show – Kansas
    Bursting Out – Jethro Tull
    Seconds Out – Genesis
Frampton Comes Alive – Peter Frampton
    At Budokan – Cheap Trick
