QUESTION OF THE WEEK, PER POSTER RATTLEHEAD, WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE “LIVE” ALBUMS?

I am not a fan of live albums, I prefer to watch live concerts on VHS/DVD/Blu-Ray.

However, if I had to choose, no surprise it is John SykesBad Boy Live!, Judas Priest‘s 30th Anniversary British Steel Tour (Thank you, Scott) and Ozzy Osbourne‘s Tribute.

  1. Another one of my favorite live albums is the 1980 live compilation album “Castle Donnington Monsters of Rock”, with Rainbow, Scorpions, Saxon, Riot, and others. The only thing that could have made this album better is if it was released as a double live album. This album includes, with all due respect to the great Ronnie James Dio, my favorite version of Rainbow’s song “Stargazer”.

1980 was such a great year for hard rock/heavy metal. Debut albums by Iron Maiden, Angel Witch, Def Leppard and Diamond Head, AC/DC’s “Back In Black”, Judas Priest’s “British Steel”, Saxon’s “Wheels of Steel” and “Strong Arm of the Law”, and many others.
