QUESTION OF THE WEEK: DO YOU PREFER TO SEE A SHOW AT AN INDOOR OR OUTDOOR VENUE?

As much as I love seeing live entertainment at Jones Beach’s outdoor theater, and it is quite a cool locale, no matter how warm it is outside, being at these “rain or shine” shows when it is actually raining, is quite miserable.

Therefore, due to mother nature’s unpredictability, I prefer indoor shows. Also, one ones where I can sit down (no more general admission shows for my elderly behind) and the smaller, and more intimate the venue, the better.

  1. I prefer indoor all the time, if possible. No helicopters, airplanes, etc. A stage show like Iron Maiden’s, for example, is best when viewed in a controlled setting. Watching Eddie run around or come out from behind the drummer is awesome, but not awesome when off in the corner , just past the lighting, you see a traffic jam. That ruins it.

  2. no way….it’s Outside when the Sun goes down….there’s this excitement in the air….you are closer to the universe, and the stage show is all there…it’s not even close

  3. Prefer indoors most of the time – but love summer concerts outdoors.
Reminds me of when I used to help the WNEW DJ with merch while WPLJ hosted the Concerts in Central Park. Was paid in beer and concert tickets – saw a number of good bands: Mott the Hoople / Pat Benatar / Eddie Money / Joe Jackson

  4. I saw Cinderella and Poison at PNC Bank Arts Center years ago, right after they added more seats, but some of the seats in the back were not covered. It was pouring, and the rain was flowing off of the roof onto the seats. and of course that is where i was sitting. So yes, i prefer indoor concerts!!

    1. Michael,

I know exactly what you are talking about, I saw Damn Yankees/Bad Company there, and back then, they had no seats, just grass.

The day I went to see that show, the weather was gorgeous. However, we had seats under the shell, in the first few rows, anyway.
