As much as I love seeing live entertainment at Jones Beach’s outdoor theater, and it is quite a cool locale, no matter how warm it is outside, being at these “rain or shine” shows when it is actually raining, is quite miserable.
Therefore, due to mother nature’s unpredictability, I prefer indoor shows. Also, one ones where I can sit down (no more general admission shows for my elderly behind) and the smaller, and more intimate the venue, the better.

Nothing like a summer stadium concert. Especially if it’s in a sky dome.
My first outdoor concert this year will be May 12th at the Virginia Beach Amphitheater – Godsmack and Stone Temple Pilots, and I am so looking forward to it! We’ll be covered so rain or shine it’ll be fine! I don’t really have a preference, I just enjoy a good concert wether it’s indoors or outdoors, best of both worlds, 15 concerts coming up over the next 4 months!
Bro Doug R., you’ve got a busy calendar! Can you please share what gigs/concerts you will be attending?
Sure can!
04/25 – Gin Blossoms/Tonic ~ Rivers Casino
05/09 – David Lee Roth ~ The Dome
05/12 – Godsmack/STP ~ Virginia Beach Amphitheater
05/22 – Collective Soul ~ Rivers Casino
06/28 – Hampton Roads Jazz Festival ~ Hampton Coliseum
06/30 – Christopher Cross ~ Sandler Center
07/23 – Guns N’ Roses ~ Carter-Finley Stadium ~ Raleigh, NC
08/01 – Rod Stewart/Richard Marx ~ Virginia Beach Amphitheater
08/22 – Billy Idol ~ Virginia Beach Amphitheater
And we have 11 FREE concerts coming up over the summer down at the Oceanfront, including Ambrosia, Pablo Cruise, and more! We had tix for Barry Manilow last month but because of health issues he had to cancel, rescheduled for August 8th, but my husband and I will be on our 2nd cruise and won’t be able to make that one.
Bro, you’re seeing some great shows! I’d love to see Rod Stewart perform, in addition to Ambrosia and Pablo Cruise. I love the music of the 70s! Altough Roth can’t sing anymore, I think he’d be a great performer to see in concert. Roth knows how to have a party!
Exactly, bro, we’re not expecting much in the way of singing from Roth, but we are expecting to have a “Damn Good” time! 😉 And I’m sure we will! Excited for all the shows coming up, especially Billy Idol! We got 2nd row (B) tix in the orchestra pit! Best seats we’ve ever had at the Amphitheater! The cost? $896.30 for 2 tix, I know, it’s ALOT of money! But hey, none of us are getting any younger, so it’s now or never!
Nice list of shows @DougR. Would love to see Rod Stewart as well as Chris Cross. I saw Godsmack a couple of times back in ’09/’10 when they opened for Metallica during their Death Magnetic run-great band to see live. DLR is out here at Spirit Casino but I’ll be out of the area and will miss it. Haven’t seen him solo since ’88. Marx & Idol sound like great shows as well. Loved them in the 80’s when I was a kid-teen.
Here’s my lost of shows for the foreseeable future. Paltry in-compare and some good artists.
4/2-SatchVai, Animals As Leaders Portland, OR
6/4-Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers Portland, OR
9/25-Iron Maiden LA, CA
10/1 & 10/3 Metallica Sphere. Vegas, NV
Going April 25 to see the SatchVai Band at the St Augustine Ampitheatre (Florida). Have been to a couple other shows there. Plenty of parking when you get utilize the shuttle lots. Lots of food/drink vendors and merch spots. People were definitely smoking some, nice crowd. Highly recommend seeing a show there. Indoor/Outdoor…….just happy to be at a show…..to answer the Question of the Week.
I just saw Joe & Steve on their 2nd show of the tour here in Portland Thursday last. It’s a great show. Animals As Leaders rocked as well. Should be an awesome evening under a shed. Have a great nite.
