As much as I love seeing live entertainment at Jones Beach’s outdoor theater, and it is quite a cool locale, no matter how warm it is outside, being at these “rain or shine” shows when it is actually raining, is quite miserable.
Therefore, due to mother nature’s unpredictability, I prefer indoor shows. Also, one ones where I can sit down (no more general admission shows for my elderly behind) and the smaller, and more intimate the venue, the better.

Absolutely, positively, 100%, without a doubt INDOOR! Outdoor shows are not fun for me. It’s typically way too hot and muggy, the light show sucks while it’s still daylight and the sound usually sucks too. Indoor is climate controlled, dark (as it should be) and the sound is much better. Plus it feels much more intimate and enclosed.
Indoor venue. The music feels much more intense and aggressive at an indoor venue. At an indoor venue, one may feel the sound of the bass and pounding drums reverberating through the body. At an outdoor venue, the music seems to get lost in the air.
I saw Slayer at Wrigley Field in 2017, it was the middle of the day, and they re-created Hell right there in the middle of this baseball venue, in the afternoon: there was Hell Rattlehead…….I was impressed they still had it…..nothing particularly evil about it, just guys doing their jobs well. I went over and experienced some of it, then went back to the other stage, but you could still hear it….you know how you imagine you can hear Hell faintly sometimes? it was impressive even from a large distance…
…Tony, you went to a killer gig! Slayer is my favorite thrash band…consistent thrash with every album. Slayer’s music is the “soundtrack to Hell”. No surprise you could hear their performance from a large distance….I would expect that from both Slayer and Motorhead.
Rattle, Slayer are so good at their jobs to where you don’t just experience the music…you get this ontological experience of actual Hell….and it’s even more intense when it’s this rumbling in the distance….lol…..I had to hand to the guys…..they hit their mark and then go past it…
Slayer concerts are Heaven in Hell.
Tasker, you summed it up pretty well! And …Tony, I agree Slayer are so good at their jobs….it takes alot of stamina and precision to play and their intensity.
Casino venues are a great place to see a concert, but I think I prefer Amphitheaters, especially under the roof just in case the weather doesn’t cooperate
Definitely indoor. I’m too old to battle the weather LOL..if it’s an outdoor venue I’m in the pavilion.
And a sit down venue is a must. My back can’t take standing on a hard floor hours on end no more as well.
This getting old S#%& really sucks!!! LOL
Im the same, can’t stand up for long periods of time due to my back, knees and also diabetic issues in my foot.
Scott, it does suck getting old. But when i can, i will get into the pit and throw elbows and do the “Toxic Waltz” with the others. After all, it’s “good, friendly, violent fun”!
Yes, i love the thrash band Exodus!
I love a good Shed show like White River Amphitheater outside Seattle or the Pavillon in Manassas, VA in the Summer and Fall. Wolf Trap is a sweet venue in No. VA. but not a shed.
