NIKKI SIXX CLAIMS HE IS THE MOST UNDERRATED BASS PLAYER

Mötely Crùe bassist Nikki Sixx was recently asked, by a fan named Chris, on his Twitter, who the most underrated bass player is?

Sixx’s reply? “Me.”

In reponse to Sixx’s reply, Steel Panther drummer Stix Zadinia, wrote “Yeah. Right. WAY more underrated than Geddy Lee, Eddie Jackson, and Skid from LOVE/HATE…….shall I go on? “

He then clarified, “That’s sarcasm.”

As previously reported, Mötley Crüe destroyed their “Cessation of Touring” agreement, that stated that band would never play another live show, as en entity, again, after their final one, in L.A. on Dec. 31st, 2016.

The band claimed renewed interest in the group, and fan demand, after the success of the Netflix biopic The Dirt, guided their decision to rescind the contract.

The band was set to hit the road this summer on The Stadium Tour, alongside Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, but due to the pandemic, those dates were scrapped.

Rescheduled 2021 dates were recently announced and can be viewed here.

Dana’s note: So, who do you think is the most underrated bass player?

    Rattle,
I think you’re on the money with Simmons , if you listen to him, he hardly ever just stays on the root note, he plays very melodically -as for sixx, I have never heard a motley crue song and said to myself damn that’s a tasty bass line ……..

Sixx does nothing for me as a bass player.
To be fair, I am not a musician so I would not know what is over/under rated.

That said some of my favorite bass players are (in no particular order): John Paul Jones, Flea, John Deacon, Chris Squire and Bootsy.

All great players. Jones, Deacon, and Squire have always been 3 of my favorites.

As a person who picked up a Bass for the first time, I will say I think I might have to go with Daisley as underrated.

Being a Kiss fan, I liked Gene’s playing, but as influences, that would be Lemmy, with Billy Sheehan as one of my favorites, as well. I admire Mick Mars talent in that band, and he is underrated Guitar player.

I expect blow back from this, but Gene Simmons is underrated as a bass player.

No blow back from me , I agree with you 100%

I agree, Simmons has always been very underrated as a bass player. As is Mike Inez, Ozzy’s loss was Alice In Chains’ gain.

Just thought of a few other possibly underrated bassists: Ian Hill, Jeff Pilson and Neil Murray.

I am shocked, that one Juan mentioned Croucier. I was just waiting for all the comments to come flooding “out of the cellar…”

      D 🙂

Swear, I’m not just saying this, but I did think about Mr. Jaunderful last night! 😉 And Butler, and Glover, and about a dozen other great bass players! Including Sting! And even Sixx! For example, “Ten Seconds To Love” stands out, I think Nikki nailed the bassline on that song!

Dana, I agree with Ian Hill, very underrated as well!
