MOTLEY CRUE’S NIKKI SIXX SAYS HE WOULD DECLINE AN OFFER TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE ROCK N’ ROLL HALL OF FAME
Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx lacks love, and respect, for the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame.
The bassist posted on his Facebook page:
“The only award I look forward to getting is the one I will probably decline and that’s the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. It’s a fixed old-boy network that has lost touch with art, songwriting craft, lyrics and influential music and usually has other agendas at hand. Young bands tell me it’s a joke, and these bands are the future.”
Our own Eddie Trunk told the New York Daily News last month, “How can you have a Hall Of Fame where it takes KISS, Rush and Alice Cooper twenty years to get in, but Green Day and Guns N’ Roses go in on first ballot but it Deep Purple doesn’t get in.”
Deep Purple has been eligible for induction in the Hall of Fame for the past 20 years and has been passed over each time favor of other artists.

Unfortunately, I think it will be a long time before they even get nominated. But, if they ever make it, I hope they do turn them down !

Hopefully other rock bands will follow Nikki’s lead on this. The Hall only rewards those artists they personally like. If the criteria were transparent, then they could objectively put in deserving artists they personally dislike.
Give em Hell Nikki! If Kiss was kept out 15 years and Deep Purple still aren’t in, there’s no telling when Motley Crue will be inducted or if they ever will be. If they do get inducted, they should actually accept it but at the award ceremony they should break their award trophies on stage, curse the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and Rolling Stone magazine, flip off the cameras and walk off stage and out of the building and get themselves kicked out of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, which Alice Cooper said on TMS can be done.

Although I agree wholeheartedly with him on the R&R HOF and their asinine induction choices,I personally think if Nikki were anymore full of shit on this whole turning them down rant, his eyes would turn brown. This is him doing what he does best,scamming his and Motley’s name into the press.I bet he’d cut Jann Wenners grass for eternity for an induction,as it would validate his entire lifetimes body of work. He’s going to turn that down? You think there wasn’t a touch of jealousy when G&R were nominated and put in in their 1st year eligible,while Motley,who were some of the pioneers of the whole Sunset Strip barrage,are largely being ignored? I’m calling bullshit on this one Mr. Sixx.
The cutting the grass comment is absolutely hysterical….I agree also that GNR should’ve been first ballot. I also think they were way more groundbreaking than the Crüe…Green Day, not so much…
