“During the filming of our movie we got excited and inspired to write new music. Getting back in the studio with Bob Rock just fueled the creative fires for us. To me, the music sounds like classic Mötley. The lyrics were written for the movie and are a reflection of our life.” says Nikki Sixx. |

I have always felt the one thing classic Motley Crue was missing was some clown rapping in it…..
Yes, I agree, that is a lowlight of the song. Other than that, it is a decent tune.
I agree , good toon till the rapper comes in. Is it me or does the guy who plays Vince Neil look more like Randy Rhoads than Vince. I have a Netflix account so i’ll probably watch it when is comes out.
Lol…right there in the middle they inexplicably went into Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire…” there it is again.
Brilliant observation. The song is the history of the band so it’s in effect CRUE’S WE DIDN’T START THE FIRE instead of Billy Joel’s 20th century references. You have a keen eye and a crisp mind. What would that song sound like now?

Michael,
While I cannot stomach that song, nor am I a fan of Joel, I think you are extremely clever.
D 🙂
Monet, that really holds up and you made it look easy.
Plus, you know, you gotta hand it to Sixx, he doesn’t rehash his hits…he has pretty good quality control; the song is good and for a new rock song to actually be good now…I just don’t have the time…it’s got to entertain me or it’s out. I got Crue’s first record upon release; not the Leahtur version though…but after they were picked up by Elektra. I had my subscription to Circus and the saw the ad for Too Fast For Love…so I am in the store and I looked at the record and almost didn’t buy it because I just thought they looked like some gimmick band that would probably really disappoint me. So, I am there at the record store with my first new copy of British Steel, Maiden Japan, and One Vice at a Time…lol..and I’m holding this Crue record and really hemmming and hawing over it….I actually don’t know why I got it…but, it instantly impressed me; and that feeling you get when you discover a new band and the record is actually good and you’re 15…I actually wasn’t that impressed with the Krokus record. And keep in mind, we already had all the great records by then…
Shannon, get the Leathur release. It has a great raw mix that I think is way better sounding than the polished Elektra release. I’ve got three of the original Leathur releases in my collection!
Thanks, Rattlehead, Roy Thomas Baker went in and remixed it…Stick to Your Guns actually isn’t as good as the rest of the record…it sounds like (good) Runaways…it’s decent but I can see why Roy Thomas Baker left it off the record. The running order on the Roy Thomas Baker record is also exactly right…and was a big reason why I was so initially impressed with the record. I am listening to some of that Leathur version on youtube; that is a lot rawer…it has that charm to it.
I’m sure this was Tommy (f–khead) Lee’s idea. I am so sick and tired of “rockers” having rappers in their new music. This is one reason why this rap shit won’t go away, because of idiots like Tommy (f–khead) Lee.
I think it’s a damn cool song and Bob Rock’s production is instantly recognizable. As for some people being upset that there’s a (gasp!) rapper in the middle and end, this is what you’re going to get from Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee in 2019. In a way, it’s probably good for old-school Motley Crue fans that the band isn’t around anymore because I have a feeling Motley: 2019 would probably experiment and add flavors that old-school fans would find sacrilege (see: Tommy’s DJ’ing and some Sixx AM).
I’m sure my opinion’s in the minority on this forum.
The song sounds Ok, contemporary I guess, at least it’s not just rehashing some old sound. That being said, I am no fan of rap so I can sympathize with what Doug R. is saying. Some nice wordplay there Micheal Monet, that may have sounded better in the song than what was there.
