Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx has reportedly responded to recent comments, made by drummer Carmine Appice, in which Appice stated that, guitarist Mick Mars, left the band because all of the live performances were allegedly “on tape…all planned out…[and he] didn’t like that everything was on tape.”
Sixx reportedly tweeted on March 15th, “Love how people talk FOR us without talking TO us. This is why the media has lost credibility. Obviously by printing BS they make money off of advertising and we’re not into that clickbait game. When the truth comes out it will be FROM üs.”
He later added, “A washed up drummer trying to speak for us? And bottom feeder media running with it to make money off of lies? Welcome to the sad new world of LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME.”
According to blabbermouth.net, on March 17th, Sixx took part in a Twitter question-and-answer session and was asked by one fan, “Is what Carmine Appice said true?” he replied, “A washed up drummer speaking for our band without any of the facts is as ridiculous as bottom feeder media running with stories without fact checking. When you hear the truth it will be from us.”
In December of 2022, Mötley Crüe announced August 2023 tour dates with Alice Cooper. To read Appice’s entire interview with Ultimate Guitar, please click here.

Classic example of the pot calling the kettle black. Washed up Nikki? Take a look at yourself in the mirror. Then take a look at your drummer and especially your singer. The only talent that existed in your band walked away last year.
It’s bad enough that bands are not only lip syncing but now these guys aren’t even playing their instruments??? If that isn’t fraud then I don’t know what is!! I would pay to fight Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee to be honest. Some assholes need a good old fashioned ass whoopin’.
They should change their name to Partly True.
Why bring in John 5 if you’re only gonna pretend to play your instruments? Only thing live obout this tour is Def Leppard. I always liked Mick Mars, he’s an unappreciated guitar player and looking forward to his new album, no matter the genre.
I just remembered something. Decades ago, Carmine stated in an interview that he had a song title idea called Raise Your Hands To Rock, and that Nikki Sixx stole the title from him. If it isn’t nailed down, Sixx will take it and claim it’s his. If it is nailed down, he’ll rip it off. Washed up drummer? You mean the drummer that John Bonham called an influence? Who did Nikki influence? Crickets…
Carmine talks too much on things said to him that were meant to be confidential.
Carmine has credentials but his self boasting and name dropping makes me take what he says with a grain of salt. I do Love that first Blue Murder album though..
Jeff,
Not more than I do 😉
