Megadeth has released the official music video for the song Killing Time, taken from the band’s latest studio album, The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! Titled Chapter V: Killing Time, the video is the fifth and latest instalment of the band’s epic multi-part short film revealing the origins of the band’s iconic mascot Vic Rattlehead.
Regarding the lyrical inspiration for Killing Time, Dave Mustaine told Kerrang! magazine, “Killing Time isn’t about homicide. It’s about procrastination. Psychopathy [another song from The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!] gives you the background] for the person that Killing Time’is about. The subject the doctors are talking about is this guy who thinks he’s got it all going on. But everything that he does peels back another layer of burnt skin. It’s stripping back the paint trying to cover up the mess that this person is. I actually know someone who’s just lost everything. We’re talking hundreds of thousands of dollars and a multi-million dollar company: gone. And he’d been warned. He was the slick dude in Life In Hell. He was the Junkie. He’s definitely the guy in Killing Time.”

Another great song off the most recent Megadeth album! This song has thrash, groove, acoustic interludes, and just great riffs and drumming! Even in his 60’s, Mustaine can still “Kill em All” with his songs…while that other band releases the boring Lux Aeterna.
Mustaine, again, proves he’s the godfather of the thrash metal genre.
I really enjoy you’re seething rhetoric about Meh-Tallica and the Blah-kk Album. You must’ve REALLY, REALLy loved them before Bob Rock came into the fold. Cheers & Happy New Year \m/ \m/
I like Bob Rock ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
I’m with you Dana. As a fellow Canuck having loved Kingdom Come in 88’ which turned me onto METALLICA I enjoy Bob Rock’s work. Save Bon Jovi.
Anther great song from such an under rated band!! I am listening to 13 right now! Great release! I definitelly like these guys better than Metallica. My absolute favorite release is So Far So Good So What!
George, SFSGSW is a great album! It’s my 2nd fave Megadeth album, with “Rust In Peace” being my most favorite thrash album ever.
And I agree with you about liking Megadeth more than Meh-tallica….actually, I like them WAY more. I think Dave Mustaine is a better metal songwriter than Meh-tallica…..although Meh-tallica is better at…..being a commercial sellout.
Completely off topic I know….
It is that time of year again. 2022 has been a challenging one for many, and we can only hope that 2023 can bring a little more light to the shade.
I would like to wish everybody who contributes to the comments section here at EddieTrunk.com a very Merry Christmas (Happy Holidays if you prefer) and hope that you all stay safe and well and that next year is a good one.
To my friend Dana; all the best to you at this time, it has as always been a pleasure to interact with you throughout this year on this platform. I hope that your mom/mum is getting better all the time, and I’m sure we’ll speak on this platform again in the new year about something.
To the main man Eddie – keep on doing what you’re doing and here’s good luck to you for the future.
One more thing – here’s a special present for Rattlehead:

Hope you like it!!!
All the best to everyone – over and out.
DJH, thx for thinking of me! And I want to extend a “gift” to you with the below. I think this is a great song by an obscure NWOBHM band. I hope you like it.

And to echo our friend, DJH, may everyone have a great Holiday Season and a safe New Year. Let’s keep on rocking in the new year.
Merry Christmas Rattlehead!!
That was a good track you gifted me; never heard of the band before, but given that they were around during the NWOBHM era, sadly there were a lot of bands that were never heard.
I thought that the lead guitar bit that repeated throughout the song reminded me a little of the intro to Victim of Changes by the mighty Judas Priest, whilst the extended solo towards the end had a touch of Randy Rhodes in Mr Crowley and the great EVH in Eruption.
I was a still a baby during the NWOBHM era (I’m 44 now) so I missed a lot of it. During my childhood the only ‘metal’ band I had heard of was Iron Maiden…oh well never mind.
DJH, well, if you knew of Iron Maiden, then here’s another treat for you…..this great, obscure band is called Minotaur. They are from Canada and formed around the end of the NWOBHM era. The singer sounds like Paul Dianno. I hope you like this song of theirs…..
