KISS’ GENE SIMMONS SAYS THE BAND WOULD NEVER REUNITE WITH FORMER BAND MEMBERS ACE FREHLEY AND PETER CRISS

Gene-Simmons400 KISS’ singing bassist Gene Simmons says that although the band have reunited with former members Ace Frehley (guitar) and Peter Criss (drums) in the past, that fans should not expect that to happen in the future.

Speaking with The Tampa Tribute, Simmons was asked if the band would ever consider reuniting if their two estranged members “cleaned up their act.” The bassist stated, “Not a chance. We’ve already danced that dance three different times. No way will we reunite. It wouldn’t be fair to [current members] Tommy [Thayer] and Eric [Singer]. It wouldn’t be right.”

Simmons also addressed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction with Criss and Frehley, adding, “We only did the induction with Ace and Peter because the fans wanted it. But it was a slap in the fact that they didn’t acknowledge Tommy Thayer and Eric. They’ve been in the band longer than Ace and Peter. If the Grateful Dead can have 10 members in and out of the band and a lyricist who was never in the band in the Hall, how can you explain that?”

KISS are currently on tour with Def Leppard.

Come up with new material, Gene for KISS News we already know that you hate Ace & Peter why not come up with new music & say “Buy this if you still care about KISS!” I’m sure if you really care about Tommy & Eric you will stop talking about your hatred for Ace & Peter, then move on with new music. If you love these guys as you say you do give them something new to record and release.

I saw it too. It sounds really tame and toned down big time. Definately not as explosive and raw as the past. I felt like they where almost going through the motions and they were struggling to keep rolling after every song. One of the worst sounding kiss shows I have seen! I get that they are old but like you said thayers tones down guitar killed it for me! The band sounded horrible!

    • Cogent point always made on

Well no shit. He’s in his 60s and been doing this for 40 years. And he had an operation. This isn’t rocket science.

Just watched a bit of it myself….if Paul is struggling to yell and do his inbetween stage banter, then its a given the actual singing is going to be a struggle. He talk sings through Detroit Rock City.

Did anyone caught KISS’ concert at Yahoo last night?

  • Use my hand I won't look on

The rock n roll hall of fame is nothing more than a music country club run by a group of liberal elitists that have the logic of the sizzle chest named Cogent who posts on here. It has been exposed for what it is by Paul Stanley on their very own stage in front of the world. Unfortunately the Kiss Army was reminded once again just how cruel the rock n roll business can be regardless of whose side your on. The bottom line is when Kiss came along in the 70’s they took show business to a whole new level thanks to the influences of The Beatles, Alice Cooper, Mott The Hoople and many others. Paul, Peter, Ace & Gene took the world by the balls and conquered it. They in turn influenced many future musicians. And history will continue to repeat itself as time goes on. Although it can be argued that Eric Carr, Bruce Kulick & Eric Singer deserved induction into the RRHOF if it was a fair & balanced organization, the reality is I’ve never personally heard any major musician say they were influenced by these individuals other than maybe Eric Carr because of the thunder he brought. The major influences from Kiss are the original four in make up and that’s a fact!

Paul was great in his speech but was not the first person by any stretch to call them out while being inducted FYI. So he didn’t expose anything many have said already. But it was a well done speech.

    • DR on

I’ve never heard anyone say they were influenced by the current bass player in Metallica either, or one of the songwriters from the Grateful Dead, or Cat Stevens for that matter. Yet there they all are in the HOF.

Even Gene is on record as saying…. no matter what ever he and the band do and with whatever members…all else fails to Gene, Peter, Ace and Paul in full makeup and theatrics.

Having said that… You do all realize, he relishes questions like this so he can make a comment he knows everyone will respond to and talk about and keep their name alive. It’s him manipulating everyone’s buttons to react exactly as we are..because, lets face it..it’s the only time the band gets talked about or anyone cares. He is well aware it’s the only time they matter now.

Last comment… All the fuss over the years has been about the substance abuse and personal choices made by Ace and Peter, which in my opinion is stated by Gene and Paul as a link to the real reason they hate on them and are bitter, they blame them for breaking up the original band at the end of the 70s and believe in their hearts, they were robbed of something since the band name KISS was never the same after that. They have a connection of the two things together and thus the anger.

    Just sayin……
