KISS’ singing bassist Gene Simmons says that although the band have reunited with former members Ace Frehley (guitar) and Peter Criss (drums) in the past, that fans should not expect that to happen in the future.
Speaking with The Tampa Tribute, Simmons was asked if the band would ever consider reuniting if their two estranged members “cleaned up their act.” The bassist stated, “Not a chance. We’ve already danced that dance three different times. No way will we reunite. It wouldn’t be fair to [current members] Tommy [Thayer] and Eric [Singer]. It wouldn’t be right.”
Simmons also addressed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction with Criss and Frehley, adding, “We only did the induction with Ace and Peter because the fans wanted it. But it was a slap in the fact that they didn’t acknowledge Tommy Thayer and Eric. They’ve been in the band longer than Ace and Peter. If the Grateful Dead can have 10 members in and out of the band and a lyricist who was never in the band in the Hall, how can you explain that?”
KISS are currently on tour with Def Leppard.

I agree with the call it a day part…not the last part tho.
Why is the need to keep rehashing this over and over. I have learned one thing from being a longtime fan since 1977 and must say dont believe everything you hear. This is one band both both paul and gene I can’t tell you how many times these guys have contradicted themselves over the yr. Its a Labour sling the moment . The real truth u think personally is kiss in 80″s were great loved eric carr n bruce loved the music but lets face the facts even in 1992 after revenge they were playing to 3000 seats and yet ace n peter come back do tour bring them all millions but u know who got that . It wasn’t ace n peter . And when ace left again and they wouldn’t pay peter which it was documented gene says they wouldn’t pay more they were sure to replace him. It was all for the money and yet they go off I think from a stand point of that doc McGhee and I seem to think he had a big push in convincing paul n gene it might would work with tommy in ace makeup either way to me I see it as more about the money then anything else. If this sucky version of kiss today thinks they all that let them try n do it on the backs of their own designs n makeup n let them play the music from their last two crappie albums and tour behind that n see were they go. They wouldn’t make a cent. Gene n paul have totally screwed this bands legacy up to the point were I can see were ppl will be calling them a sham. I personally will be glad when they retire. I simply dont like this with all the original members considering what they all created together I think they could leave all that alone we the fans I know me dont care to hear it its a turn off. I just dont agree with their decisions today .
What’s the big news here? Is there anyone that actually believes that the four of them will ever get back together? Even if Paul and Gene changed their minds and Ace and Peter actually wanted to rejoin, if there’s anything we’ve learned from the past it’s that it wouldn’t end well. I don’t even care anymore at this point. I’m just glad I got to see the four of the when they were together. Now, I’m just looking forward to Ace’s new album.
The only news I see is how much Gene changed his mind and tune big time. Read what he said in RS after the HOF announcement. Was fine with it. Somebody got in his ear huh…

I think at this point it doesn’t matter much though they are all in the 60’s and in some cases a shell of there former selves. Paul can’t sing. Peter most likely couldn’t hold up to touring and Ace is Ace.
Maybe a few one off shows but anything more than that would not work on most levels. Gene said he doesn’t want to tour much longer so it is just about over anyway.
I went back and read it again. He did seem open to it then, just not a tour, and I would have no problem with that. It would have been great to see them together even if it was one final time.
You know what would be cool? If Ace and Peter got together and did something like an album or a show. It doesn’t even have to be a full tour or anything, although that would be incredible. That would make my year and then some!
Yeah, I’ve often wondered why Ace and Peter don’t try to put their own band together.
Because musically they are very different outside of Kiss. And at 68 do you think Peter wants to play heavy rock every night in clubs?
Because Ace is smarter than you give him credit for.
