KISS star Gene Simmons says he’s proud to be among the One Percent of the world’s richest people – and insists everyone else owes him a debt of gratitude.
The bassist believes the world would descend into “chaos” if it wasn’t for him and fellow millionaires.
Simmons tells UTSanDiego.com, “The one percent pays 80 percent of all taxes. 50 percent of the population of the US pays no taxes. The one percent provides all the jobs for everybody else. If the one percent didn’t exist there would be chaos and the economy would drop dead.”
He adds, “Try being nice to rich people. I don’t remember the last poor person who gave me a job.”
Describing his 30 years of extreme financial security as “fantastic” he continues: “You know how I spell ‘shameless?’ P-r-o-u-d.”
He explains, “People often confuse my pride and self-confidence with arrogance. I’m like an animal in the jungle that pisses on the ground and doesn’t ask permission. That’s full disclosure before the facts – others hold their opinions to themselves and never say who they are. You will always know who I am. You don’t have to like it.”
KISS recently announced, KISS Rocks Vegas residency, starting November 5th at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas. The band is currently on tour with Def Leppard.

Another news story that isn’t news and AGAIN was taken out of context because the entire interview wasn’t posted…love how the media nowadays just cherry picks the story to make one up…Stop reporting every time Gene or Paul farts…embarrassing…There is enough Gene has said over the years that you don’t have to create news stories…just like the one about never reuniting with Ace and Peter from a few days ago…and of course this just sucks in every moron who like sheep will say what an asshole Gene is for this…
George,
See my comment to Will. Here’s a thought, just ignore the stories if you don’t like them.
Cheers,
Dana from ET.com 🙂
Uhhhh…again……B. I. N. G. O.
Respect is a universal word that should be applied to everyone. It sounds like he’s begging people, “to love me.” when I will ask…. What have you done for us? Everything that’s he’s provided, as been paid back in full. All the concerts, records and merchandise isn’t free… or cheap. If you start pointing to all the charities he donates, then forget it. Its your obligation for the life your allowed to live. Gene is only were he is by the financial support of the FANS. The respect should be the other way around. If someone is going to quote percentages (how much taxes one pays) they’d better prove it. His ideas are rather laughable. The rich wouldn’t be rich without the support of the low/middle working class that bust their asses for the little money they earn. Basically he’s saying, “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.” Who has he actually feed? Other than himself.
“You know your man is working hard, he’s worth a douche”
Lol! Good one. I made up a parody of parasite that goes “cellulite lady! Cellulite thighs, cellulite lady! Chicken and fries…………………………
I prefer the pre internet days when you rarely heard from these guys and their music did the talking.
Gene Simmons would not be rich if it wasn’t for the non-rich buying concert tickets, merchandise, and albums. Rich people dont attend KISS concerts wearing tuxedos and formal dresses. A large majority of KISS fans are the poor and middle-class.
