Formed in 1973 by Stanley, Simmons, Peter Criss (drums) and Ace Frehley (guitar), KISS’ first “farewell” tour occurred in 2000, the last to feature the group’s original lineup.
The current lineup consists of original members Stanley and Simmons, alongside later band additions, guitarist Tommy Thayer (since 2002) and drummer Eric Singer (on and off since 1991).
In its 48-year career, KISS has accumulated 23 gold and platinum albums — more than any other U.S. band.

Hey Dana, It’s Tom from the Lost in Vegas thread. Finally found the time to sign up and write to you. I can’t tell you how many times i sat next to my casette tape player/radio with record and pause pressed with my finger waiting to release the pause button so i could record the next song that Eddie played that i didn’t have. I remember the first time he played Master of Puppets in ’86 and i was like what the f–k is this!!! Me and my friends were just blown away. It was something unlike anything that anyone had ever heard. Tell Eddie hello and keep rockin Dana.
Tom,
WELCOME!!! It is so GREAT to see you here and I hope you become a regular poster. I will send your message to Eddie right now. All my best.
D 🙂
Thanks Tom for the long time support!
Kiss played hard rock, metal, pop, ..they had ballads, they tried nu Metal, and they usually always had the songs to back it up. Then there’s The Elder, which has some great music on it… but it’s Kiss trying to be New Age! ..The part where that record, for me, completely falls on its face is when they go into that Carlos Santana spiritual foray in the middle of Dark Light…that bongo drum guitar solo is ridiculous…..so, the guys were right, that is Kiss’s worst record. That record is Spinal Tap doing a “jazz exploration.”
Is Dave still opening ?
Seriously….I can hardly wait for today’s KI$$ to go away. My favorite band, KI$$, is no longer and its existence today is just a zombie leftover from the great band that died twenty years ago.
Rattlehead, your right on the money , I wouldn’t go if you gave me free tickets and a free VIP package , I just get sad now , because paul cant sing and is fooling or committing fraud depending on how you look at by lip syncing his vocals , and because so many people dont seem to care about any of it ,they want to say they saw kiss with the bombs lasers and pyrotechnics – it’s funny to me in the beginning they were criticized for being all flash and show and no substance which was not true , now it’s all true ! It’s all flash, show and trickery with zero substance ~
I agree, Robert, KISS’s music has always been underrated and underappreciated! And now (thanks to Paul & Gene) it’s more so than ever!
Robert, I agree with your comments. And while KI$$ has had a great show with all the pyrotechnics, I think it’s gotten moldy. Same show over and over again. Maybe it’s cuz I’m “tainted” for not liking two scabs in the band, but whatever…Today’s KI$$ is not my KI$$
