It’s official! Guns N’ Roses have been announced as one of the headliners of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which features the same three-day lineup playing two consecutive weekends, April 15th-17th and April 22nd-24th, at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, Calif.
The band will headline the Saturday date both weekends (April 16th & 23rd), but as of yet there has been no confirmation as to who will be part of the lineup when they take the stage. Speculation has been that Axl Rose and Slash will be part of the lineup, and there have been hints that bassist Duff McKagan will be joining in, but the status of other classic lineup members has not been as clear cut. Adding fuel to the speculation, both Slash and Duff have added images of the classic Guns N’ Roses logo with a Coachella backdrop to their respective Facebook pages.
In addition to Guns N’ Roses, the music weekend will feature such rock related acts as Volbeat, Rancid, The Arcs, The Damned, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Nightsweats, Deafheaven and more. The opening night of each weekend will feature a reunion of LCD Soundsystem, while the closing night will be finished out by club favorite Calvin Harris. To see the full lineup, visit the Coachella website or check out the bill posted below. Remaining tickets for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will go on sale this Wednesday (January 6th) at 11AM PT.
In other Guns N’ Roses news, Axl Rose’s rumored appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday night is now in doubt. Rose was listed on the Kimmel website earlier Monday, but now no longer appears in the billing. The fan-operated myGNRforum.com inquired about the change and was told that the singer would not be appearing on the late night talk show.
[Dana’s note 1/5/2016: I am currently watching “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and Mr. Kimmel just confirmed that Axl Rose did cancel his appearance that was scheduled for tomorrow night.]

Axl’s voice is pretty shot from what I’ve seen on YouTube clips, definitely not what he was, the original GUNS were if not the best one of the best rock bands of all time – If Adler, Izzy and duff are not involved, I’m not interested .
I wonder if Axl is thinking, “Well, my voice is all warmed up, I remember all the lyrics, why not go out one more time for the ultimate payday? I wish it was the original line up thought. My understanding is that Axl doesn’t want Adler to be involved, which is even more crushing than JLT not getting the call from Blackmore I’ll bet. I suspect Duff will be up there though.
Didn’t Adler sue either Axl or Guns as a whole? Correct me if I am wrong. I seem to remember a lawsuit.
Yes, he sued the band and received a $$ settlement and 15% of revenue from music he recorded with the band.
I’m not sure, but I believe Axl owns the G&R name outright, so he can pretty much do whatever he wants. I’m guessing he’ll pay Slash and Duff nicely, and the rest will essentially be a hired a back up band. I wonder if they’ll bang out a limited tour of selective locations while the band is all warmed up? I also wouldn’t be surprised if they threw in a Motorhead tune to pay tribute to Lemmy. Between Motley’s last show, and this final G&R tour, it seems the Sunset Strip greats are entering their golden years. It was one hell of an era though.
Why am I not surprised?
I’m not surprised he cancelled his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. I guess three of the five original members will be better than no reunion at all. I would like to see all five of them again, but that may be stretching it a bit. Izzy kind of just does what he does and doesn’t seem to have the need to be in the spotlight or even care. Steven, bless his heart, wants to be a part of this reunion badly but, ultimately, I’m sure it’s Axl’s call.
Got my Coachella tix…can’t wait for this!
