Iron Maiden, New York Dolls, Foo Fighters, Rage Against The Machine and among the nominees for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame‘s class of 2021. The top vote-getters will be announced in May and inducted in a Cleveland, Ohio, ceremony in the fall.
To be eligible for this year’s ballot, each nominee’s first single or album had to have been released in 1995 or earlier.
“This remarkable ballot reflects the diversity and depth of the artists and music the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame celebrates,” Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Foundation chairman John Sykes says in a statement. “These nominees have left an indelible impact on the sonic landscape of the world and influenced countless artists that have followed them.”
According to the Hall Of Fame, the Iron Maiden members that would get inducted would include the current lineup of singer Bruce Dickinson, bassist Steve Harris, drummer Nicko McBrain, and guitarists Adrian Smith, Dave Murray and Janick Gers, along with former singer Paul Di’Anno, former drummer Clive Burr, and former guitarist Dennis Stratton.
A voter pool of more than 1,000 artists, historians, journalists, and members of the music industry will select the new class. Starting Wednesday, fans will also have a chance to take part in the process by voting at Rockhall.com or at an interactive kiosk at the museum in Cleveland. Their selections will count as a single “fan ballot” that gets tabulated along with the others.

Maiden before Priest everyday!!! Up the irons baby \m/
To each their own, Darby,
But putting Maiden in before Priest is akin to the hall inducting Metallica before Deep Purple.
I think even the guys in Maiden would opine that Priest should be in the RRHOF before Maiden. Priest was British metal before the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal movement spawned metal bands like Iron Maiden, Saxon, Venom, Angel Witch, etc….and Priest was an inspiration to many of these new bands. Priest carried the banner for heavy metal in Britain when punk music was still in its popularity in that country.
While Maiden is absolutely deserving of RRHOF induction, I think Priest should have been inducted prior to Maiden.
My First World comments:
Hall & Oates deserve their award; Todd Rundgren surpasses that. He could easily be elected solely for:
-writing
-producing
-playing/singing
-solo career
-bands (Nazz, Utopia)
“this remarkable ballot reflects the diversity…” what an interesting statement that conveniently leaves out the relevance to rock& roll as a requirement of nominees. they care more about what will make for a highly-rated tv show and what will put asses in the seats after the pandemic made everything go sideways. what a travesty.
Agreed,
They really need to change their name to the “Music Hall Of Fame,” because less than half the artists in there actually represent Rock N’ Roll.
New York Dolls deserve to be inducted. They should have been when they were eligible in 1998. The influence they had is inarguable. The Foo Fighters…? If Grohl wasn’t in Nirvana, this wouldn’t be a discussion. When bands like MC5 are passed over, and KISS, RUSH and Deep Purple had to wait forever, to say Foo Fighters should get in at all is silly at best. Who the hell did they influence? What songs have they done that have caused a teenager to pick up a guitar? Overrated blah blah, what they are.
The Go Gos are awesome. So are Devo. The Go Gos rocked whether you liked it or not, and Devo? Who else was ever like them? Don’t be a spud, love that Devo!
“Whip it good…”
