Iron Maiden, New York DollsFoo FightersRage Against The Machine and  among the nominees for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame‘s class of 2021. The top vote-getters will be announced in May and inducted in a Cleveland, Ohio, ceremony in the fall.

To be eligible for this year’s ballot, each nominee’s first single or album had to have been released in 1995 or earlier.

“This remarkable ballot reflects the diversity and depth of the artists and music the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame celebrates,” Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Foundation chairman John Sykes says in a statement. “These nominees have left an indelible impact on the sonic landscape of the world and influenced countless artists that have followed them.”

A voter pool of more than 1,000 artists, historians, journalists, and members of the music industry will select the new class. Starting Wednesday, fans will also have a chance to take part in the process by voting at Rockhall.com or at an interactive kiosk at the museum in Cleveland. 1. no priest?? heres a question. is hall and oates even in?? who dominated the late 70s nd all of the80s like those 2 did……..///now that i think of it im sure at least 1 person will agree that the only reason kiss is in is because that years ceremonies were in nyc(their hometown births and genes home away from home)…and dana remember yrs back when i mentioned 1 guy who isnt rock but has influence all over plus big hits.. barry manilow still isnt in…

    1. Yes Tom; Hall and Oates went in on the same night as KISS back in 2014. Daryl Hall took a shot at the E Street Bands 3-day acceptance speech; saying something like:

“As there is only two of us, this shouldn’t take too long.”

Also agree with Dana about Maiden before Priest…..NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

      I HATE MAIDEN!!!!

And the Foo Fighters?… Oh fu*k off!!

  2. Great for Maiden be inducted in the RRHOF. Eddie should be inducted, too, cuz he’s been in the band longer, and is more iconic as the face of Maiden, than Janick Gers.

And I agree, Dana. Judas Priest should have been inducted many years ago prior to Maiden. IMO, Priest were the first true heavy metal band with both sound and image, and they certainly helped catapult the genre’s popularity with the release of British Steel and its radio/MTV play.

    1. Thank you, Rattle,

Other than my co-pilot Louis, you have always backed me up, and championed for Priest. So for that, you earn a Dana Priest “kiss.”

  3. some good names on the list – I too am glad for the GO-GOs – big fan of there’s in the beginning. Saw them open for the Police at MSG – great show

    1. Gene,

Me too, I am glad for them. They, by far “rock” was harder than some of the many rubes that were inducted long before. Additionally, they were the first all girl band to ever have a number one album.

    2. Agree Dana – “Beauty and the Beat” is a really good pop record – really catchy well written songs. After their debut, their other albums were not as tight – but had a handful of popular tunes each.

Fun fact, Pat Smear (of the Foo Fighters) was in the band the Germs with some of the GoGos (think Belinda and Jane). Figured I mention since it seems many on here hate the Foos – I am not one of them. I think Grohl is a good song writer. I prefer the Foos early work better but still there are some good tunes.

Good for Hall and Oates – there were all over radio and MTV…. love their Philly Soul. To me, its more Daryl Hall….than Oates.

  4. Given the slant away from what is more clearly definable as Rock, with the slew of clearly NON-rock artists, do you feel that your presence on the committee gives them a figleaf for dubious decisions. Might you and others (of the same mind) simply resign en masse given that the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame has taken either a more Pop music or simply American Music Hall of Fame. Given the travesty of last year particularly the disregard towards the fans who voted, I again see 3/4 of the actual rock acts get stiffed in favor of what is clearly, pop, dance, rnb or dance acts. I for one have given up hope that this organization lives up to its name

    Helder
