Mark Tremonti has revealed that Van Halen are busy working on new music after explaining the band’s studio time is preventing Van Halen bassist Wolfgang Van Halen from working with Tremonti in his solo band.
Chatting to VH1 Radio Network’s Dave Basner about any news on Tremonti’s self-titled solo band he said: “With Wolfgang in the band now, he does a lot of work with Van Halen right now, they’re putting together a new album, so it’s going to be hard to get everybody’s schedules to line up. You know, he doesn’t [say how the music is going]. He just says, ‘Yeah, sounds great, man. Sounds great.”
Van Halen singer David Lee Roth confirmed last year the band’s intention to record a new album to follow on from the well received A Different Kind of Truth which was released in 2012. That record was an collection of songs which could be traced back to the band’s earliest days.
The album debuted at Number two on the Billboard album chart, selling 187,000 copies in its first week of release.

Is that picture of VH for real? Yikes. Looks like Billy Sheehan, Lars age 14, the guy that blew away Tony Montana & Patti Smith.
Haahaaaa, that was pretty funny Lee. Man, they look odd in that picture
Hmm. I guess people aren’t allowed to age in some peoples perfect world. Haha, have a great weekend
This is the album that will be very interesting! I wonder if they have any really new stuff, or maybe Wolfie discovered a secret stash of jams going back to 1972? I just wonder if Eddie fried his brain too much to be able to create.
I think a new album coming soon is a real long shot. Eddie is ALWAYS working on music. Big difference between that and getting a new album out, deal done, DLR on board, etc. Hope to get one, but I’d be surprised if it was soon.
Exciting stuff!!! Different Kind of Truth ROCKED!!!
Hope there actually writing new music instead of using demo’s that are all over youtude! Loved Different kind of truth but most of the CD I already heard long ago. So hopefully is 2014 songs and not 1979 demo’s.
Peace out headed banger’s of the world
I am still taken aback by the reaction of many people regarding the cd. “DLR is back with VH and they have a new CD? Ho-hum. What else ya got?”
To quote Eddie Trunk: “Van Halen put out a new cd and are back together for the first time since 1862 and it barely raised a blip on the radar?? Are ya’ll out of your damn mind??? All right, I need to kick SOMEBODY’s ass. Dana….get me my rolodex….and a cup of coffee while your at it.”
Disclaimer: Eddie Trunk did not really say this. Besides, Dana would tell him to get his OWN coffee. 🙂
