I hadn’t planned on vomiting today. Thanks Geoff.

Thanks, but I’m saving my vomit for the “Queensryche” with the sound-a-like singer.

While I won’t proclaim my love for this song or the singer, I will suggest that’s the best song I’ve heard from him in about 15 years. Who’s the Amish guy playing the V?

    • Michael B on

It’s the same dude that’s been playing guitar for him for quite a while now.

I think it’s a good song, and I don’t get the hate. If you didn’t like Tate for the last 15 years, then you didn’t like Queensryche, which is fair because the last hits they had were in the 90’s. The whole band is to blame for that. Songwriting suffered when Chris Degarmo left, that’s quite apparent, but the guy is happier flying planes and occasionally dabbling in music.

I couldn’t agree more Mr B. Back in the old days we used to comment here about Chris Degarmo as the heart and sole of the band. It really went off the rails soon after his departure. I go back to the EP and stuck around through that putrid Fronteir record. I don’t mind the LaTorre version though. A little heavier than the cabaret stuff they were doing with Tate at the end.

      What’s a ‘sole’?

I’ve always likened Geoff’s voice to Bruce Dickenson. He’s always been a capable singer live and in the studio but it is hard to fathom that he is still around over 30 years later. He was quite silly messing around with a South American audience when they along with Germany are helping to keep this thing alive. He is like a talented ball player that nobody wants. Geoff, you are no Barry Bonds, you’re more like Jason Bay. Lose the ego and rejoin your band if they’ll take you back otherwise no one is paying attention anymore.

Sounds promising! Solid drumming by Simon Wright – I saw him with AC/DC when QR opened for them and he was just spot on. His beat won me over, because visually they gnaw on me. I say bring back the umlauts and the Rage for Order-glam if you must, just lose the Mohawk and the ZZ Top look.

Rage for order….still one of my favourite all time albums. Not a second of filler including the T’pau cover.

I really like the opening riff, very musical, it sounds like Maiden by way of Blackie Lawless, it just sets the tone immediately. This is the kind of song that would have gotten repeated plays on Headbangers Ball, to the point where all of you who are sitting on the fence would come around and totally dig this, it’s a metal hit song, and those ain’t easy to write.
