EDDIE VAN HALEN AND SAMMY HAGAR EXCHANGE PLEASANTRIES ONLINE

EddieVanHalen400 Guitar icon Eddie Van Halen turned 61 yesterday, January 26th, and guess who sent him a tweet to wish him a “Happy Birthday”?

If you guessed former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, give yourself a pat on the back. But, even more surprising? Van Halen sent a tweet back. See their online exchange below.

Happy Birthday Eddie – hope you’re doing good. #5150time #BestOfBothWorlds pic.twitter.com/SwTKiwGkXt

@sammyhagar Thanks Sammy. Hope you’re well too.

Perhaps, the tap master and the red rocker are ready to bury the hatchet? Only time will tell.

First off Hagar wouldn’t come back to VH without Michael. But Eddie has said Wolfie is the base player. Don’t know if there is a bridge that can cover that gap.

I’d like to say ideally sometime at the end of a tour Sammy would get up with Mike to do some songs and Mike stays to finish off the set with Roth. However given DLR’s total disregard for the Sammy lead VH era and his ego that has two chances: slim and none.

The way sammy and michael act whenever they are on stage together you would think they were a couple. I bet it bothered eddie more than dave’s endless rants in between songs.

Sammy shouldn’t do it if even a thought…one off gig but reunion, that ship sailed a long time ago.

Does this mean that Eddie is drinking again?

This is positive news. Baby steps, though. People will hear about this and immediately started yelling for a summer tour this year. These guys had a nasty falling out and haven’t spoken to each other. There’s a lot of things that need addressing. Not to mention the way Michael Anthony was treated. Who knows what will happen? Eddie is now 61. Sammy will be 69 this year. They don’t have a ton of time on their sides if they want to patch things up and possibly work together again. At least they’ve had one pleasant exchange of words, even if it was through Twitter.
