There are a lot of groups with dubious backgrounds and ethics doing work for good causes. Here are some to consider:
NAZI Party is having a benefit for Autism in March.
KKK will be raising money for wheelchairs to help people with MS.
There’s a Somalian Pirate Benefit for Parkinson’s Disease.
Taliban is collecting Toys For Tots.
John G – You are very clever. Nice to be compared to such a lovely cast of characters. Would love to know what you do for a living and see the long list of good things you do for humanity.
Take it easy bud. Just having a little fun here – maybe if you checked out this site once in a while you’d see the tenor here. I make an honest living and I’m also a part time PE instructor. So yes, I do try to help humanity. If you have nothing to be ashamed about, there’s no need to be so defensive. Just keep on rockin’ on Wall Street.
350K, Brokers in Greenwich Connecticut each got that in their accounts after the Twitter IPO. I grew up near there, trust me, nobody in that city is in the military…try Harvard Business School. One of those doofus traders worth 170 million could cut a check for U2 to perform for it at Yankee Stadium….they did a backyard thing neat St Croix for a computer geek….and Bono to this day won’t give up a real answer why. Try a few million.
The Wall Street the comments above are without a doubt correct; the name does matter and it stands for everything that is wrong with the world today, so please tell bankers and the like to put their money where their mouth is; after all the event is named in honor of them.
Some of these traders/brokers have 350k Italian cars in their garages in Fairfield County. Just cut a big collective check guys, bring in a usual suspect that does hidden birthday/party gigs like Sting or U2 for the noise about the cause.
Folks… Let’s at least agree on a few things: 1) We all love Hard Rock and Metal, 2) We are all are fans of Eddie Trunk and his shows. 3) We all support our troops, 4) We all like to Party. So if we have all of that in common… why would we try to undermine an event that brings all of these great things together? Would you rather us not raise a few hundred thousand dollars for our veterans?
Buy a ticket, have fun, meet some fellow rockers, and be happy. Who knows, maybe you’ll network your way into a high paying job… or even better, you might get to meet Ed!
Hey Riffhanger, why don’t you ask your bosses to pony up several millions of dollars that they made in profit alone today? Lets remember whose money your bosses took several years back when they needed it. This isn’t about the cause, this is about who ‘could’ put their money where there mouth is and obviously isn’t. And did you really compare yourself to Sabbath in your original post? Dude your just fanning the flames, not putting them out.
DR… come to the show and see for yourself. We are the real deal. Just saying, if you like Sabbath, you’ll like us. As for my bosses… let’s look at the facts… each top-tier investment bank donates a few hundred million dollars per year to multiple worthy causes. The street in total donates BILLIONS of dollars to charitable organizations annually. That money comes right out of the bonus pools and generous individuals pockets. Google it for yourself. You are so hung up on the fact that a few dozen people out there have crazy money. So what?!?!?!? You think Wall St is corupt? Guess what my friend… the whole world is corupt. From politicians, to teachers, to doctors, lawyers, plumbers, contractors, and the cable guy. These hedge fund and Private Equity millionaires are the same people who create thousands of jobs and raise capital to build bridges and roads and skyscrapers to put all of the regular joes to work everyday. You gotta take the bad with the good. Hate us if you want… but you might as well hate everyone.
Wow, maybe we can meet the right connections and get some inside dope on some good trades. No thanks. If I were more of a narcissist and needed a $100,000 car and a multi-million dollar McMansion and a plastic-enhanced woman who loved me for my cash, I probably would. Yes, the envy of the world is Manhattan. Must be like living in a room full of mirrors – everything a reflection of ME ME ME and look at how damn successful I am. I love how some of (or maybe most of) you guys think you’re the envy of the modern world. You might want to wake up, most people in this country have nothing but contempt for those in the banking/stock market business.
