As previously reported, Original KISS drummer, Peter Criss will be special guest on this Saturday’s (March 22nd) episode of That Metal Show.
In the preview clip posted below, as transcribed by blabbermouth.net, Criss explains how he found out about KISS’ Rock Hall induction and he expressed how heartbroken he is that we won’t be performing at the event.
“I got a call from [KISS leaders] Gene [Simmons] and Paul [Stanley], which I hadn’t got a call from them in many, many, many, many, many moons, including when I had my cancer,” Criss said. “And so, all of a sudden, I get a call and I’m being congratulated. ‘We’re gonna have fun.’ And I’m thinking… And I know, as I wrote in my book, there’s a lot of bad blood, and I just don’t trust [those guys] anymore. And I took it with a grain of salt and said, ‘Maybe.’ But then again, I had to go back and read the book myself and go, ‘What, are you crazy? Nothing’s changing. It doesn’t matter what goes on. Something’s gonna happen.’ And I said to [my wife], ‘It sounds too good to be true.'”
He continued: “The fact that we’re not perfoming is heartbreaking. I wanted to. I thought we were going to. I was all up for it. I was crazy enough to think, even if I had to get back in the ‘Cat’ outfit, I would have been proud to do it. Because, whether in or out of makeup, I’ll always be the ‘Catman.'”

Jann Wenner & Dave Marsh would vote Little Steven in as a solo before Deep Purple & The Moody Blues. The HOF is owned by the usual suspects.
I see a lot of Peter bashing going on here. While you guy’s might be right that Ace and Peter made their bed, Gene and Paul are far from fault. Maybe when Gene and Paul decided to use Ace and Peter to reignite their careers they could have made the leap that without A & P those careers would have effectively been over. That being said they should have acknowledged that simple fact and treated A & P with more respect and not like some third rate groupie. To me thats everything in a nutshell. When A and P are in the band Kiss numbers rise and when they are not in the band well those numbers drop. As far as continuing to bash Peter and especially Ace about drug abuse you all sound like whinny ass Paul and Gene. Many Many Many Many rock stars were, and are drug addicts it a bullshit excuse. The problem is control and the lack of it that Gene and Paul have over Ace and Peter. Again P and G forget that A and P knew them when they were nothing, so to them G and P are you and me. A and P aren’t going to fall at their feet. Also Tommy and Eric are great guy’s and better musicians than A and P but they lack the creativity that A and P have plain and simple. its not about who is fastest or who has the biggest drum set, it’s about style and in that respect all KISS GTR’s are in Ace’s dust. Just my 2 cents of the 2 Eric’s Singer is clearly the best drummer KISS has had. Wow started off defending Peter and went off on this, Sorry just so fet up with all of it at this point, had to vent.
Good point, it is always about control, in this case: having control over a multi million dollar enterprise. Says it all, I think. Kiss played stadiums with A and P in the 70s and again in the reunion, they are now trying to sell out 18,000 seaters CO-headlining, because without that co-headline thing they would be where they were in 1995, when they needed the two “addicts”, when they were playing to half empty mid size halls. But when you are sitting on a heap of dough you easily forget who brought you there. Gene is a money and attention addict and Paul a control freak (remember he would only do another album if he and only he would produce = control it?) – so addictions and egos all over the place that all of them led and lead to strange behaviour.
OMG Dana, Here these guys are bitching and whining about KISS and I just can’t believe we lost to Dayton…..DAYTON??? WTF. I’m pissed! If Culture Club has this problem when they enter the RRHoF I’m jumping off Niagara Falls. Sheeeeeeeeshus Christ…….Dayton? Really?——–Joe in The Cuse
doesn’t anybody else think that gene & paul’s ADDICTIONS – money, power, control & so on had something to do with ace & peter being in & out of the band? I have always said, I can see all 4 sides of the kiss story/soap opera, yes of course ace & peter’s addictions hurt & affected the band, but that’s rock & roll and it ain’t perfect. I’ve seen a lot of other concerts besides kiss and the performances weren’t always 100%, but in the crazy world of rock & roll that’s to be expected. yeah we all pay a lot of money for concert tickets but sometimes you have to cut the performers some slack. after all, their only human, or almost human, right gene?
I’ll take Paul’s and Gene’s addition over Ace and Peter’s any day.
Gene and Paul will gladly take your money “any day”. So have you bought a ticket or even vip package already to watch the two preferred addicts perform their relatively controlled madness??
Considering one of the other two can’t perform anymore, and the other one hardly performs outside of a bar in Jersey, it’s kinda hard to choose Klaus. Are you telling me you’d rather be a drug addict or alcoholic over being a millionaire? Are you Pro Peter and Ace? Or just anti-anything Gene + Paul because you like to sound like you have morals? Please tell me you would Klaus, cause we’ll have even more to talk about then.
nothing wrong with being a millionaire, but there is something wrong with somebody still calling someone an addict when they have been clean for years. paul Stanley was and IS wrong when he says once an addict always an addict because that’s simply not true, unless of course he’s talking about him and gene’s now & forever addictions to money, power, control & greed, but he would/could not do that. at least ace & peter have admitted to & owned up to their mistakes & imperfections, paul & gene ever do that? they hurt themselves and other people too, just in a different way.
So you did not get the irony then; I thought as much … I rather agree with what doug r. says a few lines down/up, and by the way, I have seen Ace perform way ouside that bar over here two times and I am sure he will come here again when the new album is out.
Sorry Doug. Once an addict always an addict. An addict never stops being an addict. The addict goes into recovery and hopefully stays in recovery. But one never gets over chemical addictions. So I again if I have to choose, I’ll be addicted to money any day. You had two very different personalities in this band, and now we see just how impossible it was for them to stay together. As a matter of fact its a miracle they were together as long as they were. Paul’s got a particular bee up his ass lately about Ace and Peter and can’t shut up about it. Clearly the bad memories aren’t going away for Paul and instead of taking the high road, he’s going into the mud and getting dirty. Not what I would do, but who am I to argue with the King of the Nighttime World?
Well, are Peter & Ace even showing up?
