DEF LEPPARD GUITARIST VIVIAN CAMPBELL’S CANCER HAS RETURNED

Viviancampbell-306 Def Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell’s cancer has returned – but he insists he’s not concerned at the development.

He got the all-clear in November after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma at the beginning of last year.

Now he’s undergoing more treatment ahead of his band’s US tour with KISS, and it means he’s missed songwriting sessions with the band.

Campbell tells Gater 98.7: “I’m doing good. It seems to be kind of coming back. But I’m not concerned about it – I mean, it’s just a process. It always was a little touch-and-go. I need to get a handle on it so I’m free and clear to tour this summer. All good.”

He recently hailed fellow cancer victim Wilko Johnson for continuing to work through his illness, saying: ” I always suspected that Wilko was too tough for that pussy-assed cancer shit. Turns out I was right.”

Meanwhile, former UFO bassist Pete Way has reported he’s starting to recover from radiotherapy for prostate cancer. He says: “I’ll get the result as to whether it’s worked in a couple of months, so it’s a waiting game now.

“I’m still on hormone therapy and I can’t wait to stop that so I can get back to my normal shape and size. Provided I’m given the all-clear I’ll be going flat-out to release my new album Walking On The Edge and get back on the road, where I belong.”

Dana, you have deleted comments from me and some other people i know for far less…this is a bad call that you would put this up, but selectively delete some ones comments you personally did not like..Please remove owens comments. Apparently Owen still has a lot of living to do,and has not seen how cruel the world really can be….

      Rob,

I am not sure which comments you made that I deleted, but nonetheless, you are 100% right in this case. His comment has been removed.

Vivian will beat this cancer due to the fact that he is a fighter, a soccer player and stays and eats healthy, no one chooses cancer it’s a cell that we all have. And as for Ronnie he was a fighter too. Its sad that no one is immune to cancer or any disease. We have lost more musicians to substance abuse than something we don’t choose.

both my parents passed away from cancer, I watched them suffer for months, it ripped me apart. I know everybody feels the same way about their parents, but my parents were two of the nicest, kindest people god ever created. cancer is nothing to joke about or wish on anybody, not even your own worst enemy. I wish you all the best Vivian, keep on rockin’!

Believe it or not, there are many cures for many types of cancer that already exist. Why subject yourself to deadly chemo, radiation and surgery after learning this? How many more of us will needlessly die from this dreadful disease, before we realise? Cancer is big business…start thinking & researching for yourselves. RJD (RIP) may not have had to die. God bless you Vivian.

I recommend the following book….Cancer: Step Outside the Box:

my family and I talk about it all the time, we wish some of the options out there today were available 20 years ago. if only we could turn back the clock.

Not even RJD would wish cancer on viv. But it was Viv who public bad mouthed Dio after he gave him his break. Classless act but we all make mistakes.
    Get well Viv!

As someone else said…two sides to the story here. RJD didn’t exactly have kind words about Viv after he left in interviews at that time as well and even years later. In fact when Goldy joined the band their were several interviews in the various mags at the time where both Craig and Ronnie took shots at Vivian. And it’s more or less been verified by all of the original sideman in DIO…they weren’t paid well and promises weren’t kept to take care of those guys financially so Viv…he bolted. Yes Viv said some harsh things about Ronnie and vice versa and sadly it probably took RJD passing away to put things in perspective but they were both guilty of slinging the mud. I think it’s really too bad that those two could not reconnect in the end because after Viv, Vinnie and Bain got together afterwards, it’s clear Viv went back to his roots and regained an appreciation for what he did with RJD.
